Stoke Place is an excellent choice for a short break. I stayed in Stoke Place on a recent business trip and was well impressed with every aspect of the service. I stayed in the Garden rooms and the main house and it is all to a very high standard in wonderful grounds. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food was great. I ate in the bar and enjoyed all what was provided.

Room Tip: The Garden room although away from the main building are positioned around a garden and have their own terrace with table and chairs.

We spent the weekend at the hotel with friends on a Secret Escapes deal and the beginning of December 2013. The property is set in extensive grounds with ample parking.

Upon entering the hotel, the sense of the 'modern minimalist manor house' interior greets you in the form of a modern sleek chrome and black leather chairs, and minimalist decor. I love modern design and furnishings but not sure that Stoke Place pulls it off suitably well. The room we had as part of the deal was well appointed, nice comfortable bed with a large shower room.

We had dinner to two night, and the food was excellent. The amibiance of the restaurant however was somewhat lacking, very stark 1960s throwback furniture that just didn't do the room justice.

Everywhere was just too minimalistic, for such a lovely setting - I realise that the owners are trying to make a statement, but IMHO at the cost of losing a great deal of atmosphere.

Location was great, Grounds superb we saw Squirrels, Geese Ducks and Deer. Garden view room though was cramped and it was very dissapointing after coming back at 11:30 not to be able to unwind in a bar with a nightcap.

we have just returned from an overnight stay booked with travel zoo at the stoke place hotel. We were celebrating my birthday and our wedding anniversary. We have a wonderful time and were lucky enough to be upgraded to the malborough suite. This was in a lovely garden cottage and was luxuriously furnished. The three course meal which was part of the deal was superb and was fine dining at its best. We were lucky with the weather and were able to spend time walking around the beautiful grounds. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming and we would definatley visit this hotel again.

We went here for my friends birthday and we were all looking forward to a relaxing afternoon enjoying a cream tea. The location is great and the ambience really good but unfortunately that's where it stopped. We had to ask for the wine list whilst we we were waiting to be seated - disappointing for a quality hotel like this. After we were served our cream tea the waitress just vanished! No courtesy visit to asking if all was ok, no visit to see if we needed more drinks - just shoddy service ( the restaurant wasn't busy). The final and last straw was having to ask three times to get the bill and on each time I had to go and find a member of staff. Due credit to the person I paid as he took off the service charge and gave the bottle of wine c/ o the hotel. I would still go back to try the restaurant but I would not go back for afternoon tea
