Lovely old hotel, very much of the grand, old-school family. But nothing wrong with that. Quiet rooms, really comfy beds, and good service from the staff on reception and in the bar. Place could perhaps do with a bit of a lick of paint in some areas, but nothing major and certainly nothing that detracts too much from the overall quality.

Had a great anniversary weekend can thoroughly recommend this hotel if you love period hotels with character in a great location just 15 mins from Windsor and near several National Trust locations. Not far from Bicester either. What more culture and shopping!!

Very friendly staff, warm and welcoming, willing to accommodate personal requests. On arrival we were upgraded at no extra charge to a very well presented suite which was a lovely surprise. The usual suited, toiletries, robe and slippers and great tea and coffee facilities served in a handy box. Lovely hot shower.

The hotel is situated in the most beautiful grounds with the famous Tulip Tree that Queen Elizabeth planted we awoke to snow on our first morning which presented magical views from the dining room windows over breakfast.

The food is delicious, fine dining style, artistically presented paying extra for sides although one our Secret Escapes Deal we had the same menu each night plenty to choose from. The bread selections are impossible to resist served warm with butter and every night they offered to top up.

Excellent Secret Escapes deal with breakfast (buffet, cooked menu with full English, porridge, Eggs Benedict etc , 3 course meal and Prosecco on arrival which we chose to split as only I drink between arrival and one with dinner. The only comment they state afternoon tea too it’s more of an cream tea 2 mini scones each and drink in the dining room but very nice non the less (would have eaten more at brekkie though)

This is a very relaxing hotel. We had been here once before and really enjoyed it. The only downside that time was a blip in the restaurant. I am gluten intolerant and was accidentally served gluten. This was addressed by the hotel and so we were reassured.

This time the staff were much more aware of dietary restrictions and everything was fine.

The room was perfect, nothing to fault at all.

It’s a quiet hotel but if you want a nice relaxing escape I think you won’t go wrong.

Lovely settings but the hotel itself was very dated. The majority of the clientele were older (my husband and I are in our 40’s and we were the youngest by miles). Breakfast was average but the evening meal was very good. Lack of atmosphere in the place, the bar was like a library. Wouldn’t rush back. Staff also young and not very attentive

Celebrated our NYE wedding anniversary here and it was as lovely as always. Excellent service from all members of staff. Food was lovely with a great selection at breakfast. Highly recommended for a quiet retreat away from it all.
