We have just returned from a very enjoyable and relaxing two nights at this hotel. My husband had driven past it on many occasions and we had been looking forward to a weekend break there for some time. We were not disappointed. As far as value for money goes, we couldn't fault it. We were slightly worried about the noise from the road but from our room (Room 8 under the eaves at the side of the hotel) we were barely aware of traffic. The staff were very friendly and very attentive and made us feel right at home. We paid £85 per night for a standard double room with continental breakfast and then ate there in the evenings as well. The standard of the food was extremely good and particularly reasonably priced and of course the wine list is wonderful. The catering for both Waddesdon Manor and the Five Arrows is overseen by a central catering manager and it shows. We also ate lunch at the Manor Restaurant in the main house (definitely worth a visit) and that was just as wonderful. We loved the homely dining room which has been recently refurbished and fireplaces and leather chairs abound. Gorgeous!

We found the welcome excellent and the food and accommodation well above average. Staff were cheerful and very helpful, though breakfast on our last day was disorganised, but that was the only detraction to a very enjoyable stay. I wouldn't hesitate to go back, while the Manor alone is a real experience.

My husband & I have just returned from a two night stay at the Five Arrows. Overall it was a very pleasant experience but I must agree with the comments made in the previous reviews. The major downside to the hotel is definately the poor location (on the A41) - it is such a pity that it is not located closer to the manor grounds. The A41 is extremely busy, particularly first thing (6.30am) in the morning - not so good if you want a lie in. Therefore the choice of room is important if you are a light sleeper and want a good night's sleep. Originally, we were booked into room 5 which is at the front of the building on the 1st floor. We asked to be moved due to the traffic noise - the only other room available was room 8 which was on the 2nd floor and to the side of the building. Although room 5 contained a four poster bed and a balcony, its location and loud extractor fan in the bathroom persuaded us to take room 8. The decor of both rooms were quite dated, although the rooms were very clean and housekeeping was excellent. The bathroom contained luxury toiletries from The White Company - a nice touch. The rooms did appear to be quite stuffy and the windows had to be left open to let some air in!!
On the positive side, the majority of the staff there were extremely friendly and helpful. The food and wine in the restaurant is excellent. There is an excellent choice of wine and very reasonably priced.
Service can vary - First evening: drinks were late, champagne -flat, mineral water forgotten. Second evening: perfect!
First breakfast: we arrived at 9.20am (breakfast is served until 9:30am) and we told to hurry if we wanted a cooked breakfast...
Second breakfast: perfect!

Service was friendly, efficient and the food was excellent and great value for money. Wine list to die for whether looking for "names" or simply opting for a nice bottle of house. Room was comfortable even if the decor suggests general need for some TLC and there was no aircon, so hot and steamy relying on good old fashioned breaze.

Too close to the road so road facing room was noisey during the day - but quiet for the late evening and night, but you are in for an early start. Suggest a room overlooking the carpark or the garden would be better.

There is some competion in the area and is definately more of a pub/restraunt with rooms rather than hotel standard but well worth a visit if in the area.
