“Fabulous stay......even in the infamous Room 10!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 August 2014

Every year we take over this hotel booking 20+ rooms. And every year we all have a fabulous time. Each year i have a different room and this year it was Room 10. Spent 4 very comfortable nights there. Slept very well....no problem with noise.
Food is pub grub, but very tasty and always fresh.
We have already booked for next year.
Staff very friendly and exceptionally helpful.

The room, towels, bedding was clean. Staff very helpful and pleasant other than that nothing good to say about this hotel. Food is dreadful whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner.....disgusting!!!! Even some of the locals wouldn't eat here...Don't accept room 35 if you want "space" in your bathroom....can't swing a soap bag let alone a cat!! Shower is useless...it leaks and floods floor, ended up using most of our towels to mop up water! Would I stay/ recommend this hotel....not really...but other people obviously will think differently because their experience was ok.....this is a personal review after all. Maybe other rooms are ok?? It's a shame this wasn't a pleasant stay as the hotel has so much too offer really....in the right hands it could be a gold mine.

Room Tip: Don't go for room 10 as it's above outside seating area and can be very noisy as friends dis...

after years of visiting, i would say for a drink the bell provides some of the worse beer in winslow the food is purely average at best, (you can get better in a wetherspoons) i was expecting much more for what i paid, on the other hand the staff did their best and were very help full....

Room Tip: I would not stay here again

The Bell at Winslow is now back in the hands of the master who first put this place on the map. A great family run hotel with character. Nothing too much trouble and an excellent location. I use this place for my clients and have only ever had praise. Good location just off the square and the room I stayed in overlooked it. I believe Philip Menday's wife, has added her pink loving touch to most of the rooms, as ours was very spacious and showed they care. A delicious home cooked breakfast served too. Not a modern hotel but a nice family feel about it.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel 10-12 July 2014. it was great. As well as being a hotel it is a local pub. I strongly recommend the food - the ribeye steak was huge and extremely tender. As this is a building going back hundreds of years it is quaint and like a rabbit warren. The rooms were a reasonable size and extremely clean - not too sure about black bedding though - neither was my wife. The breakfast was absolutely delicious - one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had anywhere in the world. the sausages were to die for. Really friendly place would love tt to stay there again

I was very upset that the room we stayed in had the window padlocked, and the frame was thick in paint so would not have been opened for many years, which meant no air, and on a very warm night with NO air conditioning, it was really not acceptable. We had a noisy electric fan which did not cool the room down and we had to leave the door to the hallway open for some air, which helped slightly. We were unable to sleep in such heat. The bed tail and head boards were very wobbly and we felt it could collapse at any time, which also prevented any chance of sleep.
The bathroom door opened onto a deep step which was a worry to us at our age. We felt the room we had was overpriced for what we had, and we were disappointed.
On a plus side, the bathroom was very clean.
Breakfast was fine and the lady serving was charming, but we had to cross the street from our room to the hotel for breakfast, in the rain.
The bar meals were good too.
The main hotel is full of beams and is quaint, but I think padlocking the bedroom windows lets the hotel down.

Room Tip: Ask for a bedroom without a padlock on the window.
