I have been many times to this reserve and it gets better every time. Very peaceful walk and loads of beautiful birds and plants to view

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

Part of Paxton Pits backs onto my house, so if i have nothing to do (which is very rarely) I like to go for a quick walk around the pits. They have recently built a new information centre, and there are various viewing spots. Ideal for the twitchers in your life and families alike.

Really good reserve with plenty of walks and plenty of wildlife to see, can walk the ouse valley way from here as well. Good visitor centre where you can get hot/cold drinks and snacks. Recommended.

“Lots to see”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Paxton Pits is one of those places that if you didn't know of it's existence you'd miss a great day out.

Brimming with wildlife and trees, the lakes are joy to walk around or take a leisurely afternoon stroll although you'd need a couple of hours to do the walks justice. The visitor centre is small and friendly and serves refreshments. The place is ideal for picnics on a lazy summer day however anytime of year is great as there is plenty of wildlife to see.

“A Walk on the Wild Side”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Paxton Pits is a great location if you enjoy walking and/or observing birds. The area is extensive and despite lots of locals using it for pleasure it never seems too busy. There are designated walks and maps and a pleasant visitors' centre but it can be just as pleasant drifting from 'hide' to 'hide' where you will be sure to see some birds you will recognise. Identification charts are also available in the hides to ensure accuracy over arguments about the type of birds spotted!
