“Mind the steps”
Review of Council Chamber

Council Chamber
Reviewed 8 March 2014

This is an interesting building next to the unused Corn Exchange. There are a long series of steps to gain access (although there is a chair lift) and care is needed. Recently one local councillor tripped and knocked himself out.
Some interesting local history items in the council chamber. Free local town guides etc available.

This building contains a lot of interesting pictures maps and items linked to the area. The building has been used as a Council Chamber since 1835, and has a long tradition of serving the people of Wisbech. The Chamber is now an Approved Premises for civil ceremonies eg weddings - useful now the reistry office no longer carries out marriages.
The chamber is open for free entry for the Heritage weekend 6th-9th September 2012.
