Wizards Thatch at Alderley Edge

The Thatch is an eclectic gem of a cottage and everywhere you gaze there's something new for your eye to find. We used it as base to watch the Flaming Lips play at nearby Jodrell Bank and it set the scene for our entire weekend. Just up the hill you have the Edge and the Wizards Walk... it just all added to out sense of amazement and joy. We didn't want to leave and they made us feel very welcome. The owners were so helpful and friendly. Ian was really helpful with local info and knowledge and they helped shape a really good weekend.

Thank you!

We stayed at Wizards Thatch on our wedding night, and the couple of days afterwards before we were due to fly out from Manchester Airport; and what a great time we had! Ian was so accommodating right from the outset, and welcomed us to look around the suite before we booked. We stayed in the Camelot suite, which for anyone who is interested in literature, antiques, and quirky oddities is the perfect place for you - And for my husband and I this was definitely the case!
Again Ian was very flexible with our rather late arrival time, and was on hand straight away to help when I managed to get a dvd stuck in the dvd player.
Although it was a self catering suite, we were well provided for with tea, filter coffee, milk, biscuits, sweets and cake; as well as the champagne and chocolates we had requested ready and waiting for us in the fridge.
The huge bed and black out curtains made for a great nights sleep, and I can honestly say I don't think I have ever been as relaxed as i was during our stay!
Alderley Edge was a great place to walk into for coffee, dinner, and even to just look around the shops. We will definitely be returning for anniversaries or a romantic break.

Although unique and unusual, the windows were covered with foliage which made the rooms far too dark. Very cluttered everywhere. Bath under eaves almost unmanageable with only hand shower. London prices but not quality. Would only recommend for very small people. No parking available at location. Had to park at Premier Inn further down the road - not ideal. Internet by USB only. Road noise considerable.

Room Tip: Camelot suite only seen.

This place is unique. From the second you set eyes on it, you know that. We stayed in the Wizardry, the oldest part of the building, quirky, hogwarty, in every nook and cranny another delightful find! If you are looking for modern and clinical, this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for somewhere with an individual feel and warm welcome, book now! It may be quirky, but every home comfort is catered for. Comfy sofas, a fridge with mineral water and REAL milk, coffee, tea ,biscuits, cake and fresh flowers. The bathroom and shower/bathroom are modern with plenty hot water.. Thr duvet was obviously excellent quality, but should you have needed it even a hot water bottle was provided! The location is great, the Wizard pub, about a 2 miles away is worth a visit after a walk on adjacent alderley edge. In the village, there are plenty of places to eat, including The Village Cafe for breakfast. We had dinner at Gusto, and were not disappointed, especially for the price. Ian and his team, Notably Denise, should be really proud of what they have acheived here, it is a totally unique experience... We totally loved it and will definately be back to experience another room....Lesley-Jane

Ian is a wonderful innkeeper and possesses a wealth of knowledge about the local area. Comfortable rooms and the apartment was able to accommodate our family of four for six days or so. No kitchen, so that may be a consideration for longer stays. We loved the decor and feel of the place and would stay again if given the opportunity. A unique spot!
