Good Night Inns De Trafford Hotel
Ranked #2 of 2 Hotels in Alderley Edge
Reviewed 13 October 2008

Normally I do check hotel reviews on TA prior to booking, but I reserved this one in a bit of a hurry, and to my misfortune! I thought with this Premier Inn being located in Alderley Edge it would be ok, but it was grim, grim, grim!

Very badly in need of a refurb - dirty, matted carpets, tired decor, black mould all around toilet / sink / shower fittings, towels so old they were hard, terible shower.
My request to fit the door handle (it was held on by 1 screw) properly was ignored, beds weren't made up, cups & glasses not washed.
My request on arrival to be placed in a room not overlooking the main road, if available, was met with rolled eyeballs and sighs.

It was more hassle for me to change hotels so I put up with it. There are a few other smaller, nicer places to stay in Alderley - I would strongly advise you to do so!

Very Disappointing
I stayed 4 days for business nearby.
Small room, old and run down.

I rang up the reception and asked for an iron & ironing board. Her answer – come down and get it.
Trying to ring the reception from your room is nearly impossible - No one answers the phone.

Toilet handle broken. Toilet-paper holder broken. Towels are dirty. Not even a bar of soap to be found. No newspaper. The hotel is located in a posh area (Alderley Edge) but is a low standard hotel/motel.

Hotel is above a pub that also serves breakfast.
Not tasty - Meat is always overcooked. I would advise eating in the high street restaurants (it is 3 minutes walk from the hotel)

Staff smile at you a lot and try to be friendly but don’t realise that they are giving bad service.

Keep driving.. There are better hotels in the area

We stayed 1 night at the Premier Travel Inn at Alderley Edge as it was 5 minutes walk from our friends apartment.

Check-in was a bit of an unusual set up as the desk was empty when we arrived with a hand written message advising us to find someone at the bar. After a few minutes wandering around we eventually found the correct member of staff to check us in.

The member of staff directed us to our room, pointing us in the direction of the stairs as it was on the 2nd floor - the main gripe would be that the lift was not working so we had to carry our overnight bag up the winding flights of stairs. It was a blessing we were only staying for 1 night and only had a small holdall each!

The room was OK - a good size king bed, TV, hairdryer, etc. Although we were disappointed with the bathroom, as this was dusty around the towel rail area, a bit grimey around the bath and shower tiles (but nothing too bad) and only had 1 towel.

For a quick 1 night stay in the area we would use the hotel again and it would not put us off using the Premier Travel Inn chain if it was the best option for where we would like to stay.

This is a much older hotel that has been converted into a Premier Lodge.

Sadly this means that the bedrooms are a lot smaller than the purpose-built lodges, as are the bathrooms.

The experience of staying here suffered as a result. There was hardly enough room to swing a cat in the bedroom. Additionally, the room was not fitted with the 'usual' comfy 6-ft bed normally found in Premier Lodges.

The bathroom was tiny and tired, with an old-fashioned shower producing a trickle of water so feeble that I had to move about in order to get wet.

Lack of double-glazing meant a fairly noisy night and the smell from the local chip-shop was unavoidable and unbearable at times.

I expected a lot more considering the 'posh' reputation of this area, but didn't find it here.
