Stayed at the Huntsman while on a short trip to alton towers and what a good choice it was.
After a hard day of walking it was nice to come back to somewhere that we could wash, change and eat without getting back in the car.
The rooms are clean and equipped with everything you need for a short stay. There is some road noise, but this didn't stop us from a good night sleep.
The food at the Huntsman is proper pub grub and very reasonably priced, the way all pubs should be, all homemade including the chips. All that was missing is the Heinz ketchup!
Breakfast was also included and was also plentiful and cooked to order.
If we were to visit Alton Towers again we would certainly stay again.

Group of 5 lads stopped for lunch following a walk in the local countryside. Lunch menu was two courses for £5.00. Between us we had most of what was on offer on the lunch menu. We were all pleased with both starter and main course, the quality of the food far outweighed the reasonable cost. Those drinking beer were also equally impressed. Would not hesitate to recommend this pub just a shame I don't live closer.

Lovely little pub located 5 mins away from Alton Towers. The owner was fantastic and couldn't be more helpful. Clean and tidy rooms and a full cooked breakfast in the morning. Will definitely be staying again the next time we visit the towers!

Visited the Huntsman on Sunday 22 June 2014 and the owners Connor & Kieran always look after you!! We sat in the beer garden and had a few glasses and then asked them if chef would mind making us a salad box as we had our dinner marinating at home but had no salad. We got the best salad with added cheese and garlic and rosemary croutons. And to cap it all they wouldn't take any further cash as we didn't have a full meal. Lovely place, lovely food, lovely people. Quality....

The wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst visiting alton towers. The food is delicious, locally sourced and the portions are enormous. Excellent selection of real ales and beers. Room was spacious and clean and the service is friendly but not overbearing. A real gem and highly recommended!

We stayed for 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) whilst visiting family and heading to Alton Towers, and let me tell you – this is no ordinary, drab country pub.

We arrived on Friday afternoon and were greeted by a warm welcome from one of the landlords, Conor, who kindly proceeded to take our luggage up to our rooms. The rooms themselves are beautifully decorated (cosy, yet modern). The beds are HUGE and are the comfiest I’ve slept on – I actually asked where I could buy the mattress.

The pub is lively, full of atmosphere and the owners, Kieran and Conor, both go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The pub boasts it’s very own famous mascot ‘Gizmo’ the cat, and the locals are really friendly and full of banter. There is a fantastic choice real ales – probably the reason they are a CAMRA award winner.

We had dinner in the pub both night’s and the food is absolutely lovely; all produce is locally sourced. The meal portions are very large and excellent value for money – my partner strongly recommends the Gammon Steak; I would also suggest the Tiramisu for dessert!

The breakfast is a choice between continental and fried, or both, and you can even choose what time you would like breakfast at. I had the fried and it was beautiful – again all local produce.

The pub is a 10-15 min drive from Alton Towers and a 20-minute drive from the M6.

We’ve already booked to go back in October!
