“Poor 1st visit, dissapointed”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Visited this pub for first time since refurb
very disappointed, waited 50mins for food, despite it not being that busy, big group and several things arrived burnt/inedible and had to be sent back

we spent a lot of money and the service/food quite frankly wasnt worth it

witnessed some of staff talking to their friends at bar, talking about things on facebook instead of concentrating on what they were actually doing at time, one girl was more interested in talking to her friend than paying attention to pint she was serving

complaint made but was met with frosty reception, had to be referred to area manager in end
lovely interior and pleasant place to sit and drink, i wouldn't go here to eat agan

“lazy staff”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

3/5/14 .Went in for a drink with my partner ,I stood at the bar for ages waiting to served ,but the bar staff where more interested in serving there (friends) or standing around talking. The bar staff kept disappearing in the back of the pub. One particular member of staff just wondered from behind the bar to collect glasses but stood round talking to people, when there where people waiting to be served. There were also other people complaining about not getting served. we visit the pub on a regular basis but this is not the first time this has happened .The manager was busy working behide the bar.collecting glasses in and cleaning up.The manager is doing his best but some of his staff are letting him down.

Thank you for your feedback. As you are aware it was an extremely busy period and part of this issue is the turn-around of glasses i.e. collecting, washing, drying and returning to shelves in order to have them available to serve customers. This is why staff disappear round the back of the bar. We have since put things in place to speed up this process and hopefully you will see an improvement next time you visit. Mike and Dawn

“Another faultless family meal”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

Went to the Wirral for a family meal yet again last night. It was absolutely packed with at least 150 people inside and out enjoying the beautiful weather. Had booked a table for 8 of us to celebrate my mums birthday and everything was faultless as ALWAYS! Considering how busy the place was, the food came out very quick and everything was spot on. With the new menu that has recently been launched I decided to try the Mega Donut Sundae....and ate it all on my own. :) There is a David Bowie Tribute on Good Friday so will definitely be in there for that. Everything about this place is top notch and that is why I will keep on returning. Very cheap with a wide selection for all including GLUTEN FREE! Debbie is an amazing waitress who made everyone of us laugh as always. Also, can't compliment one member of staff without mentioning the fantastic bar staff of Lois, Phil and Tom who always put a smile on everyones face, and also to the chef who cooked the food to an exceptional standard. Highly recommended and shall be back again soon.

“A must ”
Reviewed 25 February 2014 via mobile

My family have lived next door to this place for 11 years. Its had its fair share of owners but mike and dawn have to be the best by far. As soon as you walk through the door you can feel the warm, inviting atmosphere. Drinks are well priced, food is absolutely spot on and cheap, staff are excellent,(not being biased as my brother works there) and place is always clean and tidy. The Oaklands could learn alot. Overall mike and dawn have a fantastic establishment, fantastic team behind them and I wish them all the best for the future.
