“Great Hen Do Venue”
Reviewed 11 July 2011

Bar a few minor problems, we had a great time at the Hallmark, there were 10 of us on a Hen Do and unfortunately we received double rooms instead of twins which was a bit of a pain but all the rooms were gorgeous. The motown night was great, £22 for a 2 course meal, singer and disco and the tables were really nicely decorated. Definately a wow factor in the party room however it was just too hot. The windows were open but I think the hotel is in need of their air conditioning reservicing as our rooms were hot as well. The breakfasts were gorgeous and the staff were very nice. Infact, all the staff were fabulous, helping us get a minibus to manchester, advising us on where to go, organising the dinner the day before. The train station is only a mile away which is handy for a quick trip to manchester. The 3 course meal on the saturday night was amazing, presentation was great and the staff were so quick and courteous. The drinks are hellishly expenish so beware if you are a big drinker. We used the leisure facilities and it does let the hotel down, the pool is huge but the roof was bowing at one point, the walls need a good painting inside and out as its flaking and old and all the radiators in the pool and spa area were on which made it boiling hot. The jacuzzi was particulary hot. The gym had a huge range of equipment but we didnt use it. It just looked rundown in the pool area and a few of our party complained of a smell the day before. We did enjoy our spa experience but the hotel could go a long way to improve that area and bring it up to match the rest of the hotel. We had some problems with toilets at the hotel, one rooms toilet wasnt cleaned and one had a broken flusher which wasnt fixed during the weekend. All in all, for the price, the hotel was great, the decor is ace, the food and staff were amazing and we will definately come back!

No complaints about the hotel: reception welcoming; not your bog standard formulaic hotel (hence the 'boutique'); decor smart; room (exec suite) spacious, clean and comfy BUT the garden furniture, what were they thinking??? Bright orange plastic garden furniture, REALLY?? Sets a very poor first impression as this is the first thing you see as you walk from the car park to the reception. It was a lovely sunny weekend and we sat outside most of Saturday just chilling with friends, drinks and nice food but the orange plastic furniture was just such a shame. Bizarre!
The only way that the spa is connected to the hotel is via the car park so you can't pad down the corridor with your bikini and towel to have a dip in the pool unfortunately. The spa building is in need of some attention from the outside, there was no-one at reception to welcome us (or give us a towel), the place is a bit of a maze and the outdoor seating area is small, doesn't have many seats and it is not a pleasant view of the outisde of the building. The treatments we received (as part of the spa break) were great though and the pool and it's facilities were as you would expect.
Should also mention that, as a party of 22, the room we were given for dinner and breakfast was spot on, perfect for a hen party. And the reception staff opened the bar for us at 2am when we returned from our night out in Manchester city without any problem, which was great.
All in all, good but could be even better.

We stayed here as part of the airport package before we flew, room was an executive and was of a very high standard, we did not eat in the restaurant but it looked lovely. Taxi was on time and the whole experience was very pleasant. Highly recommended and will definitely use again

My partner and I recently went to a gig down in Manchester. We wanted somewhere quite near to Manchester itself to stay so we could get in and out of the center easily. I'd read reviews for this hotel and I was a bit warey about booking here however it worked out at £55 per night per person which included full use of the gym and spa facilities. We found the hotel easily by using the directions on my phone. On arrival we were greeted at reception by very friendly staff. Our room was on the 4th floor and was very nice. Lots of cupboard space, comfortable bed, a working shower and a decent sized tv. On our first night we ate at the hotel. It was very nice and prett. Fairly priced. There was a wedding going on but we never had any noise or disturbances. In the morning we drove 10 mins down the road to handforth railway station. There was parking nearby. We bought 2 returns to Manchester and it only cost about £8. There are a few pubs nearby and also some curry restaurants. We had an absolutely beautiful meal in a place called the sangman. The staff were very friendly and not only was the food excellent the place itself was very nicely decorated. People had said that they heard planes taking off in the morning but we didn't hear anything. The only down fall about the hotel was it had no air conditioning so we had to keep the window open all night. The leisure facilities were excellent, the pool was a very good size as was the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. All very clean and lots of changing room space. Didn't get time to use the gym but it looked really good. a lot of different machines to use along with a weighs room. With tv's in some rooms. All in all we really enjoyed our weekend away together. Was perfect for a couple who are looking to have a weekend away together And don't want to stay right in the centre of Manchester. Will definetely be returning!

Have stayed at this hotel on a couple of occasions when flying out from Manchester airport . Premises are clean and comfortable . Staff are pleasant and appear efficient . Breakfast was good with a wide choice of cereals , eggs , bacon etc,and pastries. The evening meal we had in the restaurant, however , could best be described as bland and overpriced. This is the only negative thing I can say about an otherwise good hotel.

Me and my Sister decided we needed a spa break and we could not believe what we got for the value of our money. It was fantastic, the staff were great and very helpful the food was 5 star and definetly one of the best meals weve ever had!! Already planned our next excursion to go back next year and going to take some friends with us. We advice that you have some beauty treatment as I am a beautician myself and I know that the treatments where worth the money and up to good standards,we had back neck &shoulder massage, body polish & facial each. the jacuzzi was lovley and room was spottless, one fault with the stay was no air con in the room but other than that 100% fab weekend.xx thanks and see you next year.xx

Room Tip: deluxe double room was lovley

I've just come home from a wonderful spa weekend with my friend. We were met at reception by a very pleasant young lady (Lucy) who was so helpful. The room was absolutely beautiful and was really clean and modern not a bit of dirt to be found. Could not fault the room at all and we looked out onto the pond and fountain which was lovely at night time. The food was amazing and the staff were very attentive and service was very good. The spa treatments were fantastic and Diane and the girls were so friendly and so professional and made our day very special so a great big thank you to them xx . I just can't believe how friendly all the staff were in whatever department of the hotel, we will definately be coming back again and would recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Thank you for a great weekend.
