Hubby & I stayed here for one day & night in August of 2007.
We arrived into Manchester at 8am, after a long flight from the Dominican Republic and couldn't face the long drive home to Scotland straight away. We knew we would have difficulties getting checked into a hotel at this time in the morning though, normal check times for the average hotel are around 2pm.
We used our Sat Nav to show us a selection of hotels in the local area and chose the Premier Travel Inn in Handforth at random.
We arrived at the Travel Inn around 9am and enquired as to the possibility of getting a room. The receptionist was excellent and advised they did have a room available and if we could wait 20 minutes till they had it cleaned for us, we'd be more than welcome to check in there & then! I was impressed !!
We went to the Tesco's which was about a 5 minute drive away, had a cuppa and then headed back to the Travel Inn. Excellent prices... £59 for the room and £7.50 each for an 'all you can eat' breakfast in the morning.
The room was great, spacious & spotlessly clean. To our surprise there was an extremely comfortable king-size bed, which was a godsend after a full day of travelling !! Also, one of the great pluses for me about this chain, is that they give you the option of either a smoking or non-smoking room. Being a smoker myself, this was a definate plus, as smoking is banned virtually everywhere in the UK. :-( !!!!
The en-suite bathroom was compact, but also spotless, comprising of a bath/shower. Towels also provided. The room also had tea/coffee facilities and colour television. Dial '0' for reception if you need the use of an iron and ironing board, they will bring it straight to your room.
We headed off to the land of nod for a few hours and awoke around 5pm. There was a menu in the room for the pub/restaurant which adjoined the Inn ( I think it was called The Bull's Head but don't quote me on it ! ) which looked reasonably priced, so we washed, dressed and headed out to the pub. The food was fantastic ( especially after living off foreign food for a week! ), the staff were friendly and welcoming. This place has a real cosy & homely feel to it and I would highly recommend it.
We then headed back to the room to the king-size bed to catch some more zzzzz's before our drive home the next day.
Breakfast in the morning is served between 7 - 9am and is in the pub/restaurant we were in the evening before. There was a wide choice of breakfast food.... cereals, toast with jams etc, yoghurts, fruit juices, croissants & pastries and a cooked breakfast which is made fresh to order. Again, can't fault the food or the staff.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay at this Premier Travel Inn and would highly recommend it. I hope to get the chance to stay there again some day.
