The River Dane is on our doorstep so I do this walk regularly.

Park your car in The Old Vicarage in Holmes Chapel then follow the footpath by the side all the way to Twemlow Viaduct, turn around here and walk back along the same route for a lovely three mile stroll.

Plenty of places to sit and watch the river wind its way peacefully on its route. Keep your eyes open for very fast a blue flash flying above the water - we have a number of Kingfishers frequent this stretch.

Quite a simple walk for most people, nothing strenuous apart from a couple of styles.

There is often cattle free roaming in the fields, they are no trouble but would suggest keeping dogs on a lead.

Excellent, very peaceful setting...

The nature reserve was across the road from the Vicarage where we were staying for the night. We enjoyed a lovely walk after dinner and even saw a kingfisher, The reserve is well signposted and paths have a good surface. Part is suitable for disabled visitors.

A well maintained area that is good for walking, the footpaths are decent and on a nice day it's well worth a visit if you are nearby

I went walking here a few times last year during the summer and really enjoyed it. Its trails are well marked out with interesting information posters. I walked from Holmes Chapel high street by the public path near the George and Dragon through the suburbs into the area. There is a lovely woodland, open grassland and riverine forest to walk along and the area has been made wheelchair friendly with disabled parking facilities. I got this pamphlet from the local library and found it really useful as I couldnt find how to get there initially.
