What a fantastic weekend get-together with 7 girls on the canals of Cheshire thanks to the Anderson Boat Team. We were so grateful for the detailed induction and accompanied help through the first 4 locks then off we went solo through the beautiful countryside for a very cheery, fun break (as you can see from the photos!!).

We left Middlewich on Friday and returned to the boat yard for an overnight stay again on Sunday before handing the boat over at 0930 on Monday. Between 7 of us this worked out to be only about £100 each which included all extras (fuel, insurance etc.). On our first night we moored in a quiet spot for a night on board and good old catch up with lots of food and drink then we moved onto Nantwich on Saturday morning having watched a beautiful sunrise over the rural countryside. Nantwich is a pretty town and definately worth a visit. On Sunday we stopping at Bridge 14 on the way back and had a short walk to the fantastic Badger Inn for Sunday lunch which was amazing! Sunday night was not so tranquil after we all donned our old merchant navy officer uniforms for a trip down nostalgia canal!

The boat was very well equipped with excellent storage and it was spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable and the shower was adequate. Steering it took a little getting used to and we did make a couple of bumps along the way but we soon got the hang of it and everyone on the waterways offered us help or support from their boats which was really reassuring.

If you take a weekend trip just look out on the maps for 70" turning points as this wasn't mentioned to us at our induction but thankfully someone did ask us along the route where we planned to turn around - a good question really as we hadn't even considered that minor detail!!

Overall, this was a fantastically fun and very reasonably inexpensive trip, having spent more time than anticipated onboard enjoying our own food and drink. A brilliant weekend for friends and family to get together and get away from it all.

Andersens are a family firm so that means you get that extra level of service.... More bedding? no problem! A longer lead for the dog while its on the deck? No problem..... We hired a great boat that was clean, warm, and had everything we needed for the holiday, as well as a welcoming bottle of wine and a vase of fresh roses, such a nice touch! The base at Middlewich gave us lots of options in terms of where we wanted to travel (we decided to head for Llangollen). After a brief induction we set off and we got used to the handling of the boat surprisingly quickly.
One of the best aspects of the holiday was that everything was included in a flat rate, that included CDW and fuel as well as the dog! Something that all the other hire companies charge extra for!
Highly recommended!

What a lovely few days! Miles of peaceful water, enough locks to give you just the right amount of exercise, interesting boat owners, casual sailors, joggers, dog walkers and chilled out canal people to entertain you and a good pub just far enough away to make the journey spiritually rewarding. Don't miss out on this treat. Pack you binoculars, your sketch pad, your family and enough tea/coffee/chocolate to ensure that you are never without a mug in your hand. Go soon.
(Oh yeah...and I guess I should be practical too. The boats are incredibly well fitted out. Warm, cozy, and spacious, with hot and cold running water, electricity, TV (if you really must) and a shower. And wonderfully comfy beds).

These guys are so helpful. The narrow boat was beautiful (The Oslo Fjord), and very spacious.
It was easy to manoeuvre and the locks were simple to operate.
We were lucky with the weather and loved every minute of this short break.
Waking up in the middle of nowhere watching the sun rise, with swans and ducks swimming around your feet, is absolutely priceless.
We will definitely be doing it again and would recommend Andersen Boats.
Big thank you to Jenny and the team. Brent, Kayleigh, Simon & Rachael :) x

Spend a day on the canal. Great fun and great boat as it was one that is normaly given to longer rentals so had all the facilities. And very good value for £100.
