From the moment we got to Durham train station the service on the Northern Belle was fantastic. The staff attention to detail was great. The food was incredible and Glamis Castle was lovely place to visit. I would like to thank the staff to allow me to see their kitchen and talk to the chef. I can't recommend this more highly then say it was worth very penny!

This was a highly anticipated trip to Windsor on the Northern Belle and my wife & I were very pleased with the overall experience.
We were lucky to have a table of 4 to ourselves and consequently we had lots of extra space. The seats were very comfortable, the carriages beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean.
The food and drink was first class and were served professionally by the friendly on board staff. The surprise entertainment given by the talented musicians and magician were really enjoyable.
One minor disappointment was the train routing which saw less countryside than we had hoped for.
Excellent trip London, Victoria to Bournemouth. Great atmosphere, superb food and good friendly service. We were in Alnwick carriage with fantastic decor, comfortable seats and Barry with his team were superb.

This was a great experience, (if a little expensive) but the memory of this trip will remain with us both forever. The scenery (once you got out into the countryside) was beatiful. The food was fantastic. It is just a shame that we did not get a Steam train to pull the carrages as it had maintenence issues. The staff were efficient but they could have interacted with the people more.

Overall the day in its entirety was enjoyable experience but not worth the monies paid!!
An hour and a half before reaching Ascot ALL the toilets were blocked (after informing the staff of the problem I was told that apparently this is a regular occurrence on the train).
We were seated in the Chatsworth carriage and to our detriment we received service last.
As a consequence of being the last carriage to be served the brunch pastry basket had hardly any pastries left and no real choice.
We were told this is all that’s left!!
On the journey home we had a reoccurrence with the cheese & biscuits selection as this was virtually non existent too again no apology!!
I would certainly expected better service and expected to get exactly the same selection/choice of pastries, cheese, biscuits etc as all the other passengers on the train.
There where a few disgruntled passengers in the Chatsworth carriage regarding the above.
I emailed the Northern Belle direct with my complaint and have not even received a response which is rude!
Hence my review on trip advisor.

Having been on the Northern Belle twice before we chose The Spirit lunch trip
to celebrate our Mum’s 80th Birthday. We departed from York station on a 4 hour round trip. On arrival on the train we was told that due to the timescales things would move quickly during our journey. The table was laid beautifully but some rather unappealing canapés were on the table which we didn’t bother with. The food was ok our main course was lamb which was lovely but covered in a thick gloopy gravy. As our journey continued the manager came round and told us of our journey which after collecting people from Leeds and Wakefield we would be going to Kingston upon Hull the place that we had left 2 hours earlier. We had to laugh but to spend 20 minutes in Hull station eating our main course was not the best setting. A bit of a let down really as the cost of the journey wasn’t cheap and to end up in our hometown was a big disappointment. Strolling musicians were ok and magician was funny but felt for my lovely mum who put a brave face on through it all.
