We went to Rookery Hall Hotel for a mini honeymoon. We had a fantastic time. All the staff were very welcoming, the rooms were comfortable and the Spa was great for relaxing especially in the big Jacuzzi.
The restaurant food was delicious and well presented. The staff were very attentive and friendly.
Will definately be going back to Rookery Hall!!

We stayed for a relaxing weekend recently before my wife gives birth to our first child. Almost everything was lovely - the location, the rooms, the spa - the one downside was the food. We ordered room service and the when it arrived it looked pitiful. It wasn't exactly complex - caesar salad, portion of chips and ice cream - so should have been easy to do well and present well. Sadly quite the opposite, we got around 6 overly done chips in a bowl (that was a portion apparently) and the ice cream was fully melted by the time it reached it. Its such a shame as something as simple as that represents the brand and demonstrates the sheer lack of respect the owners/managers must have for their guests.

We told the receptionist upon leaving, she said the chef will be shocked as he prides himself on food quality and she will look into it, we await their findings with baited breath. If they really do care about brand quality and customer loyalty they should address this as its easily fixed.

Hello,

Thank you for your constructive feedback on a room service meal experience.

I was really disappointed to read your feedback and am sorry you had to write it. Your experience is certainly not the norm and certainly does not reflect my respect for my guests at all. I hope this is born out by my feedback over the last 12 months to all reviewers.

It is really a shame that this one incident weights so heavily on your scoring bearing in mind you positive feedback about all other aspects of the break.

Apart from this incident it sounds like you had a relaxing visit and I note your comments that almost everything else was lovely (location, rooms, and spa).

Rest assured a full review of our Room service standards has taken place to ensure this type of incident never happens again,

Kindest regards

Stephen

I have started to use the Handpicked hotels mainly because of the (very reasonably priced high quality hotels) and the consistent..professional yet friendly service . Rookery Hall did not disappoint...I stayed there with my daughter for mothers day and it was just what was needed as my daughter is in remission from a chronic illness. The spa area was lovely... the pool was a lot bigger than in most hotels too. The hydrotherapy pool was relaxing . Although it was quite busy it did not feel too crowded as there was a steam and sauna room (both equally fantastic!) to use. The whole area was spotlessly clean I think I even saw the manager going round picking bit of stuff up from the floor!. I liked the spa so much my boyfreind and I are returning for a pamper day in a couple of weeks...and definately be returning with freinds for a chill out day.
The room was lovely we had a executive room overlooking the fields...very quiet and peaceful. lovely soft beds ...bathrobes.... fabulous bathroom with a tv over the bath(although could not get it to work) the shower had little massage jets aswell. A little fridge and when I called for some milk it came almost straight away.

The restaurant was a little bit chaotic probably because it was busy but the staff were freindly.. after a slight confusion over some wine the manager was very apologetic and could not do enough for us....because of his lovely attitude this slight oversight would not stop me from returning and eating there. The food was delicious as well.... I had the beef(very tender) and my daughter had the chicken(that as totally sublime) she also had the chocolate plate(for chocolate lovers this is a must even with the small supplement)!

All in all...a wonderful time was had by both of us

Room Tip: i had an executive room at the back of the new block...the views were lovely and it was so quiet nev...

I took my mum here for a special birthday treat and wasn't disappointed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel special. We were given a beautful room in the old part of the house which although a bit jaded in style, was clean and spacious with lots of little special touches (except for a fridge) The bathroom was beautiful and modern and clean. We ate in the restaurant the first night and the menu was amazing and the food lived up to the expected standard. The waiters were extremely helpful and unpretentious. The breakfast wasof high standard as was the service, however the second morning there were alot more people dining and the service wasn't as attentive and quick and attention to detail was lacking. We took advantage of the spa on both days and had a thoroughy lovely time. However the jaccuzi was not working on the first day which was a disappointment, but this was fixed by the second day. The food in the spa cafe was most enjoyable. On leaving I asked if I could look a one of the rooms in the modern block and the staff immediately took us over to look without hesitation. These rooms are alot more contemporary and furnished to a high standard with superb bathrooms. They also have a fridge in the room. I will certainly be a return visitor to Rookery Hall and will most definately stay in the newer part of teh hotel. Thank you for a most memorable time

Room Tip: This hotel offers traditionally furnished rooms as well as modern - go for what you prefer

Hello,

Thank you for visiting and reviewing our hotel.

We are delighted that you and your mum had a great time and enjoyed the tremendous facilities on offer.

I agree there are two main types of accommodation there is very traditional in the old hall and a little more modern in the new wing, both as you experienced of a high standard. I personally like the executive rooms in the newer wing with TVs in the bath, air conditioning etc.

Sorry about the Hydro pool being Out for a day whilst we refurbished it but glad you had the opportunity on day 2, also sorry about the slight delays with breakfast on day 2. No excuses just sorry!!

Very best wishes and see you soon

Stephen

We stayed here with 2 kids (10 & 9) whilst visiting Chester zoo. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were really helpful. Our room was modern with a great shower. We did wait a little while to order our food in the restaurant but when the staff realised we had been waiting they were so apologetic and our food arrived quickly. The food was very good especially the deer main course, so tender. The kids food was equally as good, things kids like to eat served up in a classy a la carte manner. They loved it. Make sure you arrive in plenty time to try out the spa. I had two treatments and thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be back in the future.
