Owner description: Discover the secret world of nuclear government. For over 50 years this vast underground complex, remained secret, hidden on the outskirts of a sleepy Cheshire town. Declassified in 1993, the 35,000 sq ft underground bunker would have been the centre of Regional Government had nuclear war broken out. The bunker today offers a warm welcome to anyone looking for a totally different day out.

As I said in my review title it's a must for anyone who remembers the 60s and 70s cold war years,go see for yourself all the history and old communications they were using back then also you get to sit in a shelter during a simulated nuclear attack you can feel the vibration from a bomb blast, watch the public information films that were about then telling you what to do if an attack is imminent, like I said it's a MUST for all.

“Excellent but disturbing ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014 via mobile

An excellent historical day out. Having lived through the Cold War it was a reminder of dark times and for my son it was a lesson in history and a reminder for the future.

It was tastefully done without glamourising or commercialising it.

An excellent afternoon out for anyone with an interest in the Cold War, The only disappointment was the catering, Seemed to run out of everything.

“Informative but lacking something”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

Wasnt sure what to expect but it was much bigger than i thought it would be. It is like a walk back into the 80's, and some of the displays need sorting out as the smell of damp was very prominent. That said, it is informative, lots of "memorabilia" to look at, my son particularly liked the missiles, tho he needed reassuring they were no longer radioactive. The simulation in the bunker room of a nuclear explosion was good (loud and a bright flash). We watched the film (not all 45 mins but most of it) and although very dated, still brought a few things home. My daughter hates mannequins and there are quite a few around the place so be warned. Couple of things the kids can mess with "hands on" but not too much. All in all not bad for a visit and a realisation of what is going on behind the scenes.
