Owner description: Welcome to Nantwich Museum. The fascinating history of one of Cheshire's most attractive and historic towns is brought to life by Nantwich Museum, founded in January 1980. Located in Pillory Street, at the heart of the town, the museum has main galleries telling the story of Nantwich through the ages - Roman salt making, Tudor Nantwich's Great Fire, the Civil War Battle of Nantwich (1644) and the more recent shoe and clothing industries. Free Admission.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Activities for older children

Have been to the museum on a number of occasions and seen different specialist exhibitions in the large back room. Local Nantwich history is concentrated on, and the whole attraction is run by part time staff and volunteers and they do a great job considering funding restrictions. Its a definite place to go as displays of different aspects of Nantwich life are planned in the future. A number of local schools visit the museum and special; facilities are available for all ages.

A small and very interesting insight in to the history of Nantwich and Cheshire. From clocks to cheese, gloves to shoes and book binding. Why Nantwich was such an important place in the past.

This is an excellent museum with a broad appeal to all ages, and no child above five years of age will be disappointed with the range of exhibits.

It is THE Museum of South Cheshire, but having said that it is anything but parochial in nature.

Special exhibitions and activities are made available frequently throughout the year and these place much emphasis on the graphic arts.

The Museum is an asset to the town, to local tourism, and to the region as a whole. Don't miss it!
