Crown Hotel Bar and Grill
Ranked #14 of 119 Restaurants in Nantwich
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$9 - US$28
Description: The Crown Hotel has been a feature of Nantwich town centre for over 400 years. Over this time the Hotel has offered residents of the town and its visitors a warm comfortable welcome, bedrooms and a place to eat and drink. Nothing much has changed in this respect, however, tastes and the needs of the visitor have. Eating out has now become a part of everyday life for families, couples and social groups. Tastes have changed, demanding a higher provenance of where our food has come from; that it is cooked more healthily and presented in a clean unflustered manner. Local people are demanding local food cooked in a manner we are comfortable with yet, with an accent to the tastes and experiences gained on European holidays and perhaps further afield. The Casa restaurant at The Crown Hotel has been a part of the dining out scene in Nantwich for over 25 years, however, all things must change. After extensive research into the tastes, dining, socialising and casual drinking of the population of Nantwich and Cheshire, the Crown Hotel has embarked on a major change in the Bar and food offer at the Hotel giving birth to the newly refurbished Bar & Grill. A sleek new look and appealing menu will serve the diners of Nantwich and further afield for many years to come

Myself and family arrived for Sunday Lunch today, showed to our favourite table immediately
Lovely waitress brought drinks straight away whilst we waited for meals which were brought in good time and were delicious. 3 roasts and 1 vegetarian
All were cooked to perfection, hot colourful vegetables cooked as we like them and the roasts pink, hot and tender with tasty gravy. Risotto perfect, hot and moist

All in all a lovely lunch, well priced and in a lovely renovated black and white town centre hotel bar and grill

Would certainly recommend

There is a multiplicity of places to have a coffee in Nantwich from independents to the usual chains...can I suggest the Crown hotel for a quirky, comforting morning coffee - They have a great Italian blend, please try a cinnamony toasted teacake with a lump of butter (not a 'portion') and Tiptree jam...do sit and relax in front of an open fire with the Sunday papers and soak up the atmosphere of this 16th century black & white coaching inn which is reputed to be haunted - friendly non ghostly staff - Better than Costa any day!!!

Not impressed with my meal being served on a wooden chopping board, especially with gammon and eggs, we asked for plates and in fairness they gave us them. The sirloin steak was fatty and not worth the money we paid for it. No allergens list which was disappointing as my husband has a dairy intolerance, we had to check every item of food on his plate via the waitress and the chef. Vegans will struggle as there was nothing on the menu for them. Don’t think we will eat there again.

Disappointing but expensive lunch from a place that I don’t think has to try too hard to please their regular clientele.
Soup and a ham sandwich is with mustard but it does not say that, that was begrudgingly exchanged by the surly waiter.
Prawn and avocado salad needed some explanation from our grumpy host as I could not find the expected vibrant lime green delight anywhere, instead there was a khaki green sludge, which I was told was avocado chutney!!! Quite horrible and I should have sent it back. My fault. I think this might be a way of using up over ripe avocados.
Nice surroundings but there are surely better places to spend the best part of sixty quid on a simple lunch.
