My husband and I were lucky enough to get married here in February this year. The venue is fabulous and has a real country feel. The staff are so accommodating and go out of their way to make sure your stay is a good one and the food is out of this world! I can't recommend Nunsmere highly enough.

Nuns mere is in a lovely setting, with the mere stretching round almost three sides of the hotel. Surrounded by 'forest' it is a real 'escape' retreat, and yet close to Chester and other centres. The service is excellent, and our room was of the highest standard. Often in old houses the plumbing leaves much to be desired, but here it's not a problem - lots of hot water instantly available. Furniture etc is largely reflective of the house - there are even Wellington boots by the front door so you can explore the extensive grounds. A lovely setting too for a wedding.. The dinner was well served, well cooked and imaginatively designed.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor and it was very quiet, with nice views from the windows.

It's my second time to this hotel set in a wonderful location and I can now confirm the first wasn't a fluke. The food was fab for taste, texture and presentation, my rooms was spacious and very comfortable and to top everything off - the customer service was excellent!

Bought a Travel Zoo voucher for 4 people and gave to our Daughter and Son in Law as part of their Christmas pressies and they asked us to use it with them!! We went for a Sunday lunchtime and were very well looked after by the staff. Started with a drink in the lounge bar where we gave our orders to the waiter and then were escorted through to a private function room when the first course was ready. The room had been laid out specifically for groups who had booked this menu so as not to 'block' the restaurant for staying guests - an excellent idea as it created a nice fairly quiet environment to enjoy the 5 course taster menu. This was really a 4 course meal with decent but not large size portions plus coffee and a piece of fudge. An excellently balanced menu, which left you feeling pleasantly full and not 'stuffed'.
It was very nicely prepared and cooked as well as served attentively from staff who were excellent at their jobs. This was excellent value as bought via the voucher. A very pleasurable experience and a good time was had by all!! Nice to get a pint of locally produced beer as well!!

My friend was getting married here so we stayed the night of the wedding. Staff we're very helpful, friendly and accommodating, the location was beautiful. We paid £130 for bed and breakfast and I was a little disappointed with the full breakfast considering the price but overall a great stay

Stayed one night (using Travelzoo voucher) and had taster menu in restaurant. Service was good. Setting was nice. Food (dinner and breakfast) was really nice. The room was big, however we thought it was in need of a revamp - looking a little tired and dated. The double bed was actually two singles together and mattresses extremely soft - hence a very poor night's sleep.

We had a great stay here with a Travelzoo voucher for Bed, Breakfast , prosecco and the tasting menu. We were had two rooms with two actual birthdays, we both had a room upgrade to an executive room, a very nice gesture! The weather was lovely so we were able to have a walk around the grounds, which are amazing, we even had a sit on the garden swing seat!
The rooms were spacious and well equipped, maybe getting ready for a refurb, but it did not spoil anything for us, the bed was very comfy.
The highlight of our stay was our fantastic evening starting with drinks in the bar, served with hot savoury popcorn, smoked nuts and good olives. The wine waiter was very helpful, suggesting choices to suit our food. The dining room ambience and decor made the dinner feel even more of a special event, we enjoyed the fine quality china, glasses etc, which enhanced the fantastic meals, all we ate was of the highest quality with great presentation.
We had coffee and homemade fudge in the Library, all so memorable.
Breakfast the next morning was also excellent.
All the staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant, we will have happy memories of our stay.
