Got a great deal for B&B and prosecco. Never got the prosecco.

Entered the room, very very dated and old fashioned. There were marks down the toilet, bits in the sink, a tooth pick and other bits on the floor, and a stain on the bottom sheet of the bedding.

I couldn't have stayed in the room constantly thinking about it being unclean, so I went to reception and explained that the room was dirty. The receptionist instantly swapped our room without hesitation, which was good.

The second room was slightly more modern, although very dusty.
There was only one large towel between the two of us, and no TV remote.

The hotel was very noisy, we could hear anyone passing and hear every breath of the other guests upstairs. The window cleaners came around 9am banging on every window.

Good things:
Nice receptionist (young blonde lady)
Comfy bed

Had a two night deal with single dinner included and really enjoyed our stay. Prestbury is a lovely spot and handy for walking in Derbyshire. The plaice main course was especially good. Loved the old character of the old part of the hotel and a drink in the garden was very relaxing.

Stayed on a dinner bed and breakfast deal referred to as a 'stylish Saturday'. First impressions were good, overall appearance of the hotel, reception and restaurant area. But upon reaching our room things began to unravel a bit. The toilet was so dirty that we would not even use it (clearly had not been cleaned at all since previous occupant). In general the room was very 'tired' and closer inspection showed that carpet areas around the edges of the room had not been vacuumed for some time, Clearly moving furniture to vacuum is something that is not done. The food in the restaurant was disappointing. Various issues but the most fundamental was that my wife had a fillet steak that was served cold (I do not mean it was not warm, it was simply stone cold - clearly had been cooked and left to one side). The staff did their best to correct both the issue with the toilet and the food, but really that should not have to be the case. The hotel seems to lack management control and standards are way below where you would expect,

Rooms very dated and a can hear neighbours casually talking especially from above.
Lots of dust and dead bugs in corners/on sills.
Room small even when requested at booking for room to accommodate cot.
Breakfast....whilst in a grand looking room and well dressed tables...stewed beans, cheesy egg, hard dry bacon, watery mushroom.
Really wouldnt rate any part of the stay. Well bed was comfortable, sound from river relaxing.
Really had such achievable expectations but was let down on all sides
