Description: Stuart and the team welcome you to The Rising Sun, a traditional Pub in the centre of Tarporley that has been serving Cheshire for hundreds of years. We pride ourselves on our extensive drinks range and our delicious food so why not join us for a pint or two, enjoy a well deserved gin from our huge selection or share a bottle of bubbly over a leisurely lunch. Our Sunday menu is the perfect choice to wind down the weekend and we are ideally positioned for Delamere Forest and nearby Nantwich Town if you fancy exploring. The Shire Horse Centre and Oulton Park Racing Circuit are also close by. Don't forget to check out our weekly Quiz, Poker Night and delicious Fish and Chip Nights!

Great food and atmosphere as always! Perfectly cooked fillet steaks with fresh home made chips and salad which consisted of home made coleslaw, potato salad, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, slice of kiwi and orange and pasta. We have been visiting the pub for the past 10 years, travelling from North Wales. We were sad reading some of the poor reviews regarding decor etc! Its what we like about an old fashioned pub which in this case, The Rising Sun has retained its history, character and charm. There are plenty of new, up and coming trendy pubs and restaurants in Chester, so why not frequent those, instead of leaving comments about the "decor"! Will definitely be visiting again. Scored low on service only due to new staff making silly mistakes which im sure in time and with extra training will be overcome. This did not affect our meal or evening in anyway.

Been coming here for many years as we often meet friends from 'Up North' as it is a convenient half way point being Midlands based,Foodand, service excellent.Ample parking at rear but the menu was almost too extensive.Clean ,friendly and reasonably priced.Tarporley itself is quintissentially England and as nice as it gets.
Well looked after by Sarah and Jay and pleasant ambiance. Not the best choice of bitter in Cheshire but always a pleasant place to be.

Visited here on a Monday afternoon, with a group of seven and were seated at the rear of the pub. There is a large menu to choose from, with a range of different cuisines available that you would expect from a good pub.

The pub was busier than expected for a Monday afternoon. Staff seemed a little stretched for the number of diners. Service was a little slow, for two courses it took over two hours from start to finish. Overall, food and drink was very reasonable. A pleasant afternoon lunch despite the slow service.

Called in on Thursday 6th June, for first visit, has the lamb casserole, and Gammon for us. Just great, ever likely there is a good crowd in the place, its the food / service, and cleanliness that draws them in, easy parking at private car park behind the Rising Sun. Will certainly be back
