“Lovely place - quiet beautiful surroundings and great service”
Reviewed 7 June 2011

We came here for a family outing which included four small children and three rooms. Had a great Sunday lunch from the Sunday menu, wandered around the grounds in the afternoon. The views were good and it was a very pleasant place to spend a few hours. In the evening we ate in the bar, and even the bar menu had a good range of choice and quality food. They had done a birthday cake for my Dad. The rooms were comfortable, and the family room was especially nice, on the corner of the building with loads of space. I would definitely recommend it. We stayed Sunday due to lack of availability on Saturday nights.

We had a lovely evening dinner with some friends a Willington the other day and have to say it was a great evening. Probably one of the best evenings we had for a long time!

Obviously the company was great, but it would not have been the same without the absolute perfect service: friendly, quiet, quick - and the high standard of cooking: the food was simply outstanding! Needless to say we sampled both of Willigton's two ales which were lovely, and dipped our toes (figuratively speaking) into their extensive and excellent wine cellar.

All this in beautiful surroundings, overlooking Cheshire. Internally Willington hall spoils the visitors with a extensive collection of antique furniture and fittings which let's you reminisce of the good old times.

All in all an evening we will not forget quickly and we will definitely be back soon!

Myself and my husband spent a few nights in this hotel while visiting friends in the area. We were extremely impressed with the friendly and welcoming atompshere of the hotel. A great location to get away from it all but in easy reach to view the sites of Chester. Will definatley use again.

I had the pleasure of staying at Willington Hall for a friends wedding. I was pleasantly suprised as we arrived on a lovely sunny day and had a fantastic view over the cheshire plains. The hotel itself was very comfortable, rooms were spacious yet cosy and clean. Staff were were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and the wedding itself was one of the best i have been to. The gardens were very pretty, sipping champagne looking out at the picturesque view was like a little taste of heaven! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Chester or the surrounding area and i will definately be planning another visit!

Just held our wedding at this wonderfully romantic hotel. Cant quite believe people saying this hotel needs updating, IT IS A COUNTRY HOTEL, its meant to have the rustic charm and not have the chrome and neon lights like city hotels. The staff were amazing and every minute detail for the wedding was perfect. I honestly implore you to take a look at this venue if you are thinking about getting married as its absolutely perfect. Yes we were lucky to have fantastic weather so we had reception drinks in the beautiful gardens. The rooms are big and old fashioned, again like a country hotel should be. The setting is wonderful and close to chester for those wanting to explore. All in all it was a perfect setting for our special day and we WILL be returning to this exceptional hotel.

It would be difficult to find an adverse comment about this hotel.
I see there are some reviews that say that the furnishings are
'tired' which I totally disagree. The furnishings are perfect for a
country hotel - if you want modern up to date furnishings then
why not stay at a 'concrete' hotel in the city.
Dogs are welcome but not in the public areas.
This is a perfect hotel, efficient and lovely staff, excellent food
and service, wonderfully quiet with lovely gardens and views.
hotel.
Food, service, lovely rooms and scenic views - it is the perfect
hotel.

Decent size rooms (and beds). Those on the front (as was) have nice views over the country-side. The bar has Real ale. The bar and restaurant food is very good, except perhaps when chef is off. At that time the home grown vegetables (usually good) weren't what they should have been. Portions are generous even if you ask for less.

Most staff were very good at their jobs, all were pleasant and helpful.

Some rooms have chest of drawers and baths bigger than others. The bath gowns are a nice touch, but some rooms only have one, even though two people are staying in it. You might only get one face cloth too and every other day you might not get one at all. I'm not sure if these are features, lack of attention or shortage of stock.

The weather was really nice during our stay and we had our windows open all the time (it was sufficiently quiet), but I'm not sure how warm it will be in Winter because the windows are rather old and thin, reminiscent of those in my primary school (anyone of a certain age will understand).

Bedrooms are upstairs, I don't think there is a lift. Drive slowly as you approach the hotel, the entrances and signage are not easy to spot. You could of course arrive by helicopter, although I didn't.
