Peckforton just can't be beaten for its beautiful setting, nor can the quality of the bedrooms be questioned. Having visited this stunning venue for a Land Rover Experience Day, It was unfortunate that dinner didn't live up to the other aspects of the stay. Gripe with reception - no offer of help with luggage and only directions to the room, which given the maze, was near impossible, so a big thank you to the more than willing maintenance staff.
Dinner was taken on a Sunday night, the first strange thing was they offer you one menu between two people and this was the same on surrounding tables. Service at all stages just was lacking in empathy, wine wasn't poured, long delay in ordering and then between delivery of each course. All in all we just got the impression that Sunday night wasn't the night to dine at Peckforton.
I know its also personnel view, but why give what I suppose you would call modern British food annoying medieval dish names, it certainly adds nothing to the dish!
Next time we'll possibly just visit for afternoon tea.
