“Very comfortable and welcoming”
Reviewed 14 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Had a great time here with the grandchildren. Lovely accommodation, very comfortable with everything you need. Location is excellent, near Chester and the surrounding countryside. Kay is very welcoming and we look forward to our next visit.

“Fantastic accomodation and location”
Reviewed 9 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Fantastic accomodation and location close to Chester, Cheshire Oaks and Oulton Park. The Lodge is ideal for a family get away with excellent views across the fields.
We would recommend the local pubs in Kelsall and Tarvin.

Lovely accommodation with everything that you could think of provided. Very spacious that was ideal for anyone with mobility issues. Fabulous walk in shower in beautiful bathroom. Ideal location for Chester and the Zoo- both worth a visit and will recommend to friends. Hope to be able to visit again.

“Wonderful, comfortable lodge and tranquil setting with beautiful views”
Reviewed 16 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We have had a really lovely and peaceful 5 night break at Barley Rise. A warm greeting awaited us upon arrival, from Kay and her lovely Labrador 'Murdoch'. The log cabin is very large and spacious, with comfortable beds and all 'mod cons' - and a log burner, which Kay keeps constantly supplied with kindling and logs. All in all, a lovely holiday and we would love to return sometime. Highly recommended.

“Excellent”

Wonderful lodge very modern and clean. Very spacious lounge/kitchen with a log burning stove. Very quiet location the lodge has views to the rear of field with sheep, cows and horses. 3 stables opposite the lodge and horses can be accomodated should visitors wish to bring them. The lodge has 3 bedrooms one single, one twin and one double. Large bathroom with separate walk in shower and bath. WiFi link in lodge and TV. Only small criticism is the washing machine is not actually in the lodge itself but in an outbuilding across the yard which is not convenient.

Very close to Chester Zoo, Chester Town Centre, Blue Planet Aquarium and Tatton Park. Co-op store in the village and Sainsbury's supermarket within reasonable driving distance. Highly recommeded place to stay.

“Beautiful place, and welcoming hostess”
Reviewed 15 May 2017 for a stay in March 2017

My fiance and I found this really lovely as a place to stay, especially with the flock of beautiful little black sheep in the field at the back, and the well-stocked woodburner. Kay was charming when we arrived, and understanding when we mistook our departure time on the last day.
We took a little while to find the bathroom light switch (on the other side of one of the adjacent bedroom doors) - just in in case you have the same confusion! : )
