Used a CN Voucher for an overnight stay. Recently refurbished annex ensuite bedroom was well appointed with great "walk-in" shower. Restaurant standard food at Bar prices and a superb cooked breakfast. Highly recommended and we will return (when the weather's better!)

Arrived tired, cold and wet through, late on a Friday night. Totally taken care of - good food, good hospitality and great atmosphere. The rooms are excellent and provide everything you need, and more. Good value for B & B - recommended.

Our group of 5 descended on the Miner's arm whilst doing the C2C cycle ride. After a welcoming local pint (or two!) we were shown to our luxurious and well fitted and decorated rooms on the side of the pub. By far the best accommodation we had on the C2C, right on the route and at a reasonable price. The Menu for the evening meals was limited but there was a varied choice, both mains and deserts, suitable for both the carnivores and vegetarians among. We were all made very welcome by Alison and her staff and it will be a certain stopping point again if we are in the area. The green credentials are an added bonus.

on a 3 day walking tour this was the second night's accommodation. The rooms are large and well appointed with generous showers. A nice touch is the selection of lip balms, insect repellant, sting soothers etc - they pitch it just right for the type of clientelle (walkers, cyclists) likely to stop here.A fascinating and very very quiet area - well worth exploring.

This was the middle of our C2C Tour, it was amazing thanks to Alison and her staff. We were running late and we called Alison, and she honestly was worried about us. We asked her when the Restaurant closed and she said not to worry about that, that they would sort it out once we got there. Alison kept the kitchen open for us, she even let us freshen up first. She whipped us up a wonderful dinner and her and her staff joined us for some great conversation. We couldn't have been more honored to have stayed there. Everyone was so great and eager to ensure we had a relaxing stay. Alison even entertained us with some information about the history of the mining done in Nenthead and what the future holds for the village.

We arrived here in a cold rain after an extremely taxing day on the coast to coast cycle route. The room was perfect - very nicely done out with a large bathroom and fantastic shower, and the best toiletries I've ever seen anywhere. The pub itself is really lovely and the meals are great. Tasty and extremely good value. There's also a good choice. Alison, the owner, is really pleasant and helpful, and I appreciated the obvious effort she was going to with supporting local charities and also the environment. It's an excellent route stop for anyone doing anything active although frankly a great place for anyone looking for a stay in this part of the Pennines.
