Stayed for 1 night August 2014. Andy and Zoe have recently taken over management here and nothing is too much trouble for them. The hotel has a wonderful old world charm with large comfortable rooms with everything you need as well as a four poster bed! We ate a delicious hearty meal in the bar and a fabulous breakfast in the restaurant the next day. There are 2 lovely lounges to relax in and everyone is warm and friendly. Great views and outside space too. Happy customers is the top priority here with the personal touch and that's more important than a lick of paint anytime! I will definitely go back. Thank you!

Room Tip: Room 18 is spacious with great views. Think all rooms have four poster beds.

We stayed at the hotel recently for the weekend to go walking nearby to Alston. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent, especially the Cumberland sausage at breakfast time. The hotel is very nice, oldie worldie but needs updating a little, especially the gardens and some of the decor. We would still recommend the hotel though and would stay again in the future. We had a fab weekend. We particularly loved the fact that the managers Zoe and Andrew sat with a number of the guests and chatted at the end of the evening. We also got to meet their lovely chocolate lab Jas.

Spent two nights in nent hall this week and had a fantastic time! A warm and friendly welcome with excellent customer service. We stayed in room 19 which had a lovely four poster and lovely furniture. The bathroom was huge and it had a nice view. It does need a spot of paint but was spotlessly clean!

Breakfast was great- top marks for the sausages! We ate in the restaurant one night and it was great value for money. I had the sirloin steak and it was cooked to perfection (I'm really fussy about steak)- amazing for 1295!

Overall if you want to stay in a beautiful part of the country; I would definitely recommend here. I l know that we will definitely come back!

This is a wonderful, place to stay. The hosts where excellent and could not do enough to make our stay wonderful. The four poster bed sealed it for me. This is not a swish upmarket place but a comfortable welcoming place to stay. We really enjoyed our stay here and wish we had made it longer.
