What a lovely surprise! very welcome after a long cycle trip! House with great character, very friendly host and lady who served us breakfast. All set in amazing gardens in a quaint village. Will definitely revisit.

Room Tip: I could imagine all rooms would be equally great. Perhaps one facing the garden if you are staying...

Annie and Mike provide welcome hospitality with good tips on where to eat, places to visit, and local sights, not to mention local bird and wildlife. The house is spacious with comfortable rooms and is set in Annie's lovely garden. Breakfasts are excellent too!

Room Tip: The double room overlooking the garden and with views over to the woods is worth asking for

I stayed at Barn Close recently whilst attending a training course in the area and I could not have hoped for a better place to stay. Anne was fab - she was warm and welcoming and cooked the most fantastic breakfasts every day. It is a lovely house with a beautiful garden and despite being within easy access of the motorway, it is a great place to relax and unwind. I would most definitely recommended this b&b to anyone and will be sure to stay here again if I am ever in the area.

We stayed here for a night as part of a motorcycle tour of the Lake District. We were in the twin bedroom with separate bathroom. The bedroom was small but adequate and very comfortable. The fact that it wasn't en suit didn't bother us. We had an evening meal at the local pub followed by a walk around Anne's fantastic garden. Breakfast was superb and for £45 for the two us, it was fantastic value. Anne is a lovely lady and we will certainly be visiting again in the future.

The only minor criticism I have, (and it really is minor) is that a sign at the end of the drive would be really handy.

We spent a comfortable night at barn close breaking up the journey between the highlands of scotland and winchester at the end of the family holiday. It was comfortable, good value and just what we needed. The perfect stopover to break up a journey between scotland and the south!

On arrival my three young children exploded from the car to burn off energy in Anne stunning gardens. We then saw our bed rooms - two comfortable rooms adjacent to each other, one for us and one for the children. Ours was onsuite and had a massive deep bath. Next was a 2 course dinner for £20- delicious poached salmon, loads of veg, salad and meringue and berries - yum!. Breakfast - full english toast, cereal etc.... was also great.

Very welcoming and family freindly!

Our stay was a present from the children for a break. What a delight it proved to be.Wonderful hospitality in an elegant house. We had a large en suite twin room overlooking Anne's lovely gardens. The room was spacious, comfortable and Anne has lovely bedding which I appreciate. It was a joy to open the curtains and look out at the view.Tea and coffe were provided in the room together with lovely biscuits.Thoughtful touches like fruit tea or hot chocolate were also on the tray in the room. The breakfast was served in a lovely dining room also with a view to the gardens. The house is close to Leighton Hall, Levens Hall and Holker Hall for the lover of gardens and all are worth a visit. The wildlife in the area is wonderful and we saw woodpeckers on the bird feeder. I have only seen 1 in this country before! Anne looked after us really well and we loved the pictures Mike has taken of his big cats! This B and B is a real joy.The village of Beetham is charming and much as an English village always was.I pray it stays that way.The best present we have had, so well chosen.Anne and Mike are to be congratulated. We hope to return.

We particularly wanted to stay in Beetham due to a family connection to the area. It was also a very good location for driving up to the Lake District. The house itself is lovely in a very quiet location, set in beautiful large gardens, just a short walk to the centre of the village.

Our twin room upstairs was spacious and light-filled with the curtains open at picture windows looking out over the Spring garden & croquet lawn. We were very comfortable and felt well-looked after. Anne was very helpful from the time of my first enquiry. She was only too happy to oblige or make suggestions when asked, but otherwise discreet and unobtrusive. Her home-cooked full English breakfasts were ample and delicious, including home-made jam preserves, served at the huge dining table - again with view over the gorgeous garden. We're so glad we found this place.

Room Tip: We had the largest room with twin beds plus 'en suite', which overlooked the front garden
