Just returned from a two day break at the Lodore Falls. The hotel was recommended by friends and my wife and I were delighted with all aspects of our stay. The hotel is an older building with plenty of character. Our room appeared to have been recently renovated ( room 320 ) and was spotlessly clean. The pool, while small, was of a high standard and we spent several hours there relaxing, swimming and reading. We stayed on a half board basis which included a complementary lunch on one day. The food was excellent, my only "complaint" being that there was too much but as the quality of the food was so good I was not inclined to leave any!! The staff were all very friendly and efficient and we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends. Many thanks for a wonderful break. We will definitely return.

Stayed on a special break 29-30th Nov 2011.
I have booked up again for the end of March 2012.
This hotel is faultless, very clean, nice rooms, friendly staff, food in the restaurant is excellent and good selection of drinks including Real Ale.
There is also a nice swimming pool and a hot tub in the garden.
The location is outstanding and only 10 minutes from Keswick

stayed for 2 night break booked via travelzoo which included DBB and 2 course lunch. Hotel immaculately clean and the standard of food and service was excellent.

Locallly sourced food including lamb, venison and guinea fowl, extensive choices on the menu including vegetarian, food standard deserving of michelin star.

Service standard very high but unobtrusuve, staff genuinely care about the customer, I left some of my breakfast as I was full and the waistress asked if there was anything wrong with the taste or the cooking that the chef could put right !

Will definately return.

Room Tip: all rooms good

When you get to a certain age, & the kids don't want to come away with you anyway, we've decided a little luxury doesn't go amiss, & that's what you'll get here. Yes the building is old so trying to update it to some ultra modern contemporary style would be out of place, so it has been updated to match the building. We stayed in a Fell view room overlooking the tennis court, & as it was a corner room we could just see Derwentwater. The room was not large, but it wasn't so small either. The bathroom was large and plenty of hot water, unlike many hotels when it cools down in the morning when everyone is showering. The food was excellent and service second to none, couldn't fault any of it. As we had booked via Travelzoo the experience was even better in the knowledge someone was prepared to allow offers during school holidays - a first for us in over 30yrs!(One of us is a teacher) The added benefit was the walk straight from the hotel, & a soak in the pool afterwards. Yes the pool is small but it's better than not having one at all! A definite 5 Star hotel in a beautiful part of the Lakes.

Room Tip: Obviously for a brilliant view opt for the more expensive Lake View Rooms

This was our 3rd visit to the Hotel and again we loved our time there. We enjoyed swimming in the pool, exploring and visiting Keswick again (despite persistent rain), the excellent food at the hotel and the Christmas experience. The hotel was bedecked beautifully with the Nutcracker theme and this helped us to feel ready for a very festive Christmas 2011. This is one of our favourite places, can't wait for the next visit.
