Booked through secret escapes and for the most part the experience was perfect.
The negatives first, booked a fell room, and got a view of the fell albeit when sitting down as otherwise only saw roof and air con units! Maybe some flowers up there to disguise the view. Also ordered champagne to be in room for arrival and wasn't but this was quickly rectified. Fiancé also had a spa treatment for which the therapist was late and the threat net shortened as a result.

In fairness these were all minor things as the rest of the stay was fantastic. The room and bathroom lovely, with the fantastic old lift! The service in the bar was fantastic always attentive to our needs and knowledgeable of the area. The food was fantastic with service once again impeccable. I mentioned on first night that the second night was my fiancé's birthday and they moved us to a table with a view of the lake for both breakfast and dinner. A lovely touch. The area around is beautiful and would recommend getting out and exploring are some awesome views and landscapes.

Overall had a great few days in the lakes, with the only problems being minor, as the title states so close to perfection! Would visit again

My 3rd visit to the Lake District, after two visits in the 1990's where it rained consistently I swore I'd never return. Only a great offer on Secret Escapes and a pushy wife saw me agree to return and after driving in bright sunshine it started to rain within 30 minutes of arrival and that was how it remained the whole time. The Lodore is a bleak grey building, especially in the rain but as soon as you walk through the door you feel the warmth. Every member of staff was helpful, friendly and warm, the service overall was great.
There are a number of 'lounges' with warm fires and soft comfortable sofas, a wide choice of fine wine and cask ales and excellent food. As a veggie they don't make enough of the fact that they don't just offer an option, they have a complete veggie menu, make sure you ask for it. This should certainly be a destination hotel for all veggies.
We used the spa and enjoyed a swim and the sauna, a welcome option after a short walk in the cold and rain.
The room was comfortable and spacious, the only thing stopping me giving a 5 star rating was a dirty shower with engrained soap scum on the shower control and a dirty shower head. A shame when everything else was clean and maintained.
The Lodore has changed my opinion of the Lake District and I would return, I'd just accept it will rain and I'll stay in the bar looking out at the amazing views.

Hubby and I have just returned from a three night break at the Lodore Falls. Stayed in a lake view room which was perfect. Food lovely and friendly attentive staff. Have stayed here several times and never been disappointed. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Room 103 lake view - lovely

I have never been motivated enough to write a hotel review before, but our treatment by the management and staff of the Lodore Falls Hotel, was so exemplary during our stay last week, that I feel I must share our comments with anyone who is considering spending a holiday there.
THE ROOM, clean, comfortable, quiet and well maintained, overlooked the river, the garden and the lake and the views were breathtaking.
THE FOOD was delicious, served efficiently by a cheerful, dedicated staff and appreciated by all, especially after a days walking in the hills.
THE MANAGEMENT ever helpful and obliging, even arranged four days sunshine for us, in Borrowdale in April! We enjoyed a very happy four day break and recommend the hotel to all..

Room Tip: Fell and Garden rooms.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone who enjoys quality and tranquility. The hotel is in a beautiful location, with stunning views and easily accessible walks for all ages. Our room was small but cosy with a very comfortable queen size bed and if you left the window open you could listen to the sound of the waterfall which was very soothing. The food was amazing every meal was delicious and well presented, the staff excellent. It did appear the earlier you booked in the restaurant the quicker the service was, as the restaurant became busier the wait got longer but we were not rushing anywhere. The hot tub is easy to book and comes recommended (with a chilled glass of wine) I booked this through secret escapes and everything that was promised was given without a need to ask. I love the fact that it is so dog friendly and that people take their boots of at the door and pad around in their socks it makes for such a relaxed atmosphere and yet the place is spotlessly clean. It is over 300 miles from our house but we will definitely return and recommend to all. (Visit Trotters World of Animals- Lake District Wildlife Park we were the only people there and it needs the support.)

Visited 31-03-2014 - 03-04-2014 - Room 303
We booked an upgraded room and we were delighted with the view of the lake. The room was spotless. The bathroom was modern but very small. I felt the sitting area could have been larger. Nevertheless, this a comfortable room and we had no intention of spending our holiday break sitting in a bedroom.
The lift is amazing. It reminded me of Arkwright's till in 'Open All Hours'.
What really makes this hotel is the dining experience. The bar staff were second to none (A special mention for Stephanie here). Your preferences are remembered.
The dining room is a place of calm efficiency, presided over by Geza(?). It is evident that staff training has been of paramount importance. Each member of staff is willing to spend time in conversation or is capable of recognising when individuals wished to be left in peace. You are made to feel like the most important guest in the room. The food is of a high quality, cooked and served in an imaginative way. Breakfasts are a treat.
This is a place to which I would willingly return.

Room Tip: Room 303 had a wonderful aspect, overlooking the lake but the bathroom was very small for an upgrade...

Our two night stay started with a complimentary upgrade to a suite - a welcome surprise !! Room 31 was beautifully presented and had a lovely view to the lake from both the lounge and the bedroom. That evening we enjoyed a meal that was both interesting and flavourful - I was particularly impressed as I am vegetarian (Which seems to be a real irritant to other hotels) and was presented with a full vegetarian menu !! We enjoyed the outdoor jacuzzi with a glass of wine the following day - you have to book it but then you have it for your sole use which is a lovely idea, we also took a short walk to the falls just behind the hotel.
That evening we chose to have room service which offered reasonable portions for the charge.
This hotel is genuinely one of the best I have ever stayed in - the staff, service, cleanliness and ambience are second to none and we will be back!!
