“Relaxing minimoon!”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

My Husband and I recently enjoyed a relaxing minimoon at the Lodore Falls Hotel. The hotel is literally situated on the Lake...beautiful view! The hotel itself is very lovely, we booked a 'secret escape' deal yet didn't get treated any differently. The food was excellent, lots of choice. We opted to take our own wine which they are happy for you to do, you just pay the corkage at £12.50 a bottle. (Their wines are about £25 plus) We took advantage of booking slots in the outside Jacuzzi with a glass of prosecco and had a swim in the outdoor pool. We also booked a massage - considering we went mid week they were pretty booked up, so I would suggest if you wanted any treatments in the Spa, to book in advance. The staff were so friendly, that nothing was too much trouble! We would really recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to relax, eat great food, go for lovely walks or chill in the pool. Fabulous time, thankyou!

Room Tip: ask for lake view.

This was or third visit here and we cannot fault it. A lovely relaxing place to come back to after a day walking. The rooms are small but well decorated and the communal area feels very cosy with the fires and comfy sofas.
Breakfast was always lovely and hearty setting you up for the day and the evening meals are simply delicious. Though I have to say I think a little over priced if you pay on the night but most occasions we have managed to get a deal with evening meal included.
We love this place so much we chose to go there for a few days after our recent wedding as a mini-moon and I'm sure we'll be back again!

Just spent 2 nights at this hotel, we had a lovely relaxing time. The views and the location are stunning, the grounds and gardens of the hotel are beautiful, there is even a waterfall at the back of the hotel ( a short walk and not visible from the hotel itself). The staff were without exception polite, friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. When we arrived we were given a complimentary Pimms and strawberries and cream ( part of our deal ) . We were in a standard room but it was a reasonable size, very nicely decorated with a comfy bed. There are lovely views from the restaurant and the bar, the evening meal menu was lovely and the food was really good and well presented. Service was excellent. Coffee and petit fours were complimentary and served in the bar. The breakfast menu was varied with a good range of choices and the cooked breakfast was just about the best I have ever had.
There is a reasonably sized indoor swimming pool and sauna and also an outdoor pool and a hot tub. You have to book a slot in the hot tub, but it means you have exclusive use of it for 20 minutes and the surroundings are beautiful. The Spa treatment room is very nice and I had a lovely relaxing treatment, but you need to book early and probably in advance of your arrival. I would highly recommend this hotel, it is one of the most relaxing breaks I have ever had. I classed this as very good value, but we were on a Secret Escapes deal.

Room Tip: The lake view rooms ( which I did not stay in ) will have the most stunning views.

This hotel is truly a gem. My husband and I booked a two night break, we enjoyed it so much we extended out stay for a further night. I have never encountered such hospitable/professional & attentive staff . The food and cleanliness was spot on. Little more to say except excellent and we look forward to returning to this very fine establishment

Room Tip: Room 108 - Derwentwater Suite has the most amazing view

Arrived mid afternoon and entitled to afternoon tea on arrival - explained it would end soon but voucher could be used next day. Room was clean (if a little small), bed was very comfortable, heating still on but easily controllable (don't like a hot room at night) and all other facilities present. Bathroom had been recently refurbished and was well lit and warm. The bedroom had also been refurbished - although it had one or two quirky things which added to the charm. Had paid for upgrade to fell view but had been allocated a lake view - thank you. Although overlooking the bus stop and close to the road I was surprised how little traffic and road noise there was; especially during the night.

We had a small problem in ordering our dinner on first night but once I had spoken to the restaurant manager everything from then on was as near perfect as it could be. Being a "deal" there is a special menu but staff fully explained this and the options for going off it but we were perfectly satisfied with the choices available and had 2 great evening meals as well as 2 full breakfasts. Restaurant staff were excellent, hard working and attentive as were bar and reception staff. So must have been the cleaners as room was spotless and made up by the time we returned from breakfast.

Lakeland beef was absolutely fantastic.

Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Hotel is quite an old one I think that has been extended - not sure what the basic room view is but...

A lovely stay. We arrived early, at 11.30 am, as we were meeting other family members travelling from elsewhere. Amazingly two of our three rooms were already available, so we were able to check-in straightaway. When our cycling relatives arrived they were able to leave their bikes securely in one of the hotel garages, which was a great help. The hotel was busy with an all-day wedding but it did not impact on our stay. The hotel has very nice facilities - the weather was lovely so we used the heated swimming pool and sunbathed - the food is of a very high standard, it is nicely furnished etc etc. But what made the difference was the impeccable service. The staff were all friendly and efficient - the best combination! We hope to return.
