Stayed at the hotel last week to celebrate a birthday and fellwalking

The hotel was relaxed, comfortable, and the atmosphere was very good. The evening meal was very good...excellent choice of vegetarian meals. Service was very diligent and generally well paced. Wines good...an excellent Chilean gewertztraminer of particular note

We had a standard room....clean, comfortable and reasonably well appointed. View virtually non existent....just the roof of the kitchen, with standing water and extractor fan. The room was unberably hot (and this after the previous weeks hot spell) although the subsequent request and provision of a fan meant it was tolerable

Enjoyable, and we will return...just a feeling it should have been even better..............

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear have very little view......

I stayed here with my family from July 10th thru to July 15th. We also had extended family staying throughout this time. We all reserved lake view rooms and they were lovely. There was a little mix up with the reservations requests of two individual reservations, due to having a cot set up in one room for a family of three, and the specific room request of another couple. It was not too troublesome, but the couple who had requested a certain room was not able to receive it, although they were understanding .
The check in staff were very friendly and accomindating. Our bags brought to the room quickly, etc.
The food in the restaurant was fantastic. Everyone seemed to enjoy their multicourse meals each night and the restaurant staff were friendly and efficient.
Now my only "complaints" per se....
The outdoor pool area. I realize that the weather in not usually hot and sunny all the time in England, but they had only a total of 4 lounge chairs by the pool. If the sun came out at all you were darn lucky to get one . We were not so lucky at all. There is so much room around the pool for so many more and we did wish it was more resort like for people and families that look forward to spending quality time at a pool. They do have a few tables and chairs around also, but it does not make for a relaxing pool side experience sitting in chairs as opposed to lounging in a lounger. I am aware that this is not a big deal, just a notice from a guest who was lucky enough to have a very sunny day during her visit!
They also do a roaring trade in hosting weddings. I totally understand why a hotel would cater to these, but we were told one day to make sure we were in the dining room at a specific time because they had a wedding to host that night and the kitchen would be swamped , and they did not want us to have to wait for our meals. Not a big deal really, we showed up at the correct time, and we were served well. Our wait time was a little more than usual , but not a problem. The weddings also take up most of the outside seating at the tables, so if you fancied sitting outside for tea or an aperitif , good luck.
The hotel, staff, food and location are wonderful at this beautiful hotel and I will definitely stay here again the next time I am visiting.

If you have booked the Lodore you can relax. You won't be disappointed. I have stayed there twice with my husband, (for special occasions) and it never lets you down. It's good old fashioned service that puts its guests first and foremost. The location is idyllic set at the foot of some of the most amazing mountains and adjacent to the lake. There are a number of walks to be had from the door of the hotel and the falls themselves are right at the back of the hotel. The grounds consist of an outdoor pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts and formal gardens. Ideal for taking afternoon tea on the lawn. Breakfast and dinner was never disappointing. Good quality food is served with finesse and consideration. The rooms are very comfortable and you cannot fail to enjoy an amazing view from whichever room you stay in. They even laid out a basket, cushion and bowls for the dog! There's a spa area with a pool and sauna. If you fancy a dip in the outside jacuzzi you will need to book a 20min slot in advance. All in all if you stay at this hotel you will return because you're worth it!

Room Tip: Book your free 20 min jaccuzi slot in advance so as not to be disappointed.

My family has been coming to the Lodore for many years, on and off, and I was very pleased to find that everything was very much like I remembered. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, service was excellent and thoughtful, and our corner suite was very nice. I loved the large and modern bathroom and my daughters enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. Our extended family had a wonderful time every evening at dinner- the choice and presentation of each dish was creative and tasty, and we looked forward to coffee in the lounge with the beautiful view of Derwent Water. I am planning our return!

Room Tip: Rooms on the lake side provide a stunning view but are a little noisier because the road is close by...

Quite easy to find and near the lake, pictures make the lake look closer but it's quite deceiving, and there's a road in front of the hotel. Car park was free and just opposite the hotel, be careful of the bend in the road though. Bar area is a bonus, and couldn't fault the service in there. Afternoon tea was lovely, only really get 2 choices of sandwiches though and not a mixture which you would normally get. You do get a good view from bar area but only if no cars park In front of the windows, so you mainly look at windscreens.
Outside is lovely to sit out so we were lucky the sun was shining.
Reception helpful and polite, old looking but then an old hotel.
Room was lovely and clean around the back and no views , cost of bnb I did find quite expensive when I've stayed in better, but it's the lakes. Did this as a birthday treat. Evening meal was pretty amazing! I'm quite fussy but the quality of the fish and meat was out of this world and you got quite a lot for your money.
Service ok in the restaurante, they are polite, but not many of them actually smile. Makes it quite uncomfortable. But you do get waited on really well.
Did like the hotel but if I return I have seen another hotel I'd like to try which is the Mary mount, just up the road nearer the lake.
Do try though just good luck with getting the weather.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 311 which was overlooking gym/spa. Front of hotel is the best for views. Wi if was...

Visited the hotel for my Birthday stayed 1st August, The hotel it's self is very nice, Reception staff were very pleasant, Rooms very nice and clean, a big let down in the rooms is no air con, Bar area very welcoming and nice staff, Indoor pool adequate nice out door pool, went in this morning but really cold as weather was not the best, On a hot day it would be a lovely spot, The location is about a five minute drive from Keswick but not right on the lake, although grounds immaculate, The evening meal was of poor quality, Rump steak very tough, although did enjoy the breakfast, Would we stay here again, Probably not, One night for lake view room DBB for two adults one child, £205 and not enjoyed the evening meal, not very good value for money, so probably not
