We stayed at the Lodore Falls Hotel on the recommendation of friends and were not disappointed. The rooms at the back of the hotel look out onto a steeply wooded hillside so not as good as a lake view at the front but less expensive. The room was comfortable, very clean and tidy, and had good storage space for clothes and a sitting area. A very comfortable bed. We were there four nights and the variety of the menu and quality of the food could not be bettered. Staff were very attentive and clearly trained to a high standard. A wonderful stay with plenty of opportunities for walking and the town of Keswick nearby.

We were invited to a wedding here and so decided to book and stay overnight. Our room overlooked the lake and was lovely, the bed was so comfy it was a real hardship getting out of it in the morning (nothing to do with the Prosecco we were drinking the night before!). The staff couldn't do enough for us, they were all friendly and courteous and the service was excellent. Whilst we didn't eat in the restaurant as such, the wedding breakfast we had was delicious and breakfast the next day was freshly cooked to order and there was a very good continental selection as well. We enjoyed our stay so much we can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: We were at the front of the hotel and had a lake view, the back of the hotel looks out onto steeply forested fell, to be honest we would have been happy with either!

This is an excellent hotel, the service is outstanding. We stayed in a garden view room. It had been refurbished and although not large was clean and comfortable and kept that way by a very good housekeeping service. We were also lucky to be overlooking the nut feeder in the garden where we regularly watched the red squirrels feeding, a real bonus. The hotel is well run and the staff are well trained. The public rooms are very comfortable and we also recommend eating lunch in the beautifully maintained gardens where we also enjoyed a pre dinner drink courtesy of good weather. The dining experience cannot be faulted. I am a vegetarian and was delighted to have a seperate menu from which to select my meal, not the usual single vegetarian course! My husband eats meat and also enjoyed his meals we both loved the variety of home made bread served each evening. This hotel is really excellent if I have used too many superlatives in reviewing it I make no apology, it deserves them!

Room Tip: We stayed in a garden view room. These are in the original hotel building.

This was our second visit to this lovely relaxing and informal Hotel. Staff very friendly and polite. Service in the restaurant excellent. Food wonderful and good choice and nicely presented and piping hot. We had a Lake view room which was beautiful, with a wonderful relaxing view. We stayed an extra night and had to be moved to another room which was fine but not as good as the first one. Due to the very hot weather we could have done with a fan but I am sure they would have found one for us had we asked. The outdoor pool is unheated and freezing cold but this was welcome after a hot walk. They do need to put a few more loungers round the pool. Indoor pool is good and sitting in the outside jacuzzi with a glass of wine was lovely.

The gardens are immaculate and pleasant to sit in but would get a bit crowded if a wedding was taking place.

Will definitely return again but would only stay in a Lake view room, I was told by another guest the rooms at the back were noisy and they had no view except over a flat roof.

The only grouse is I would have just preferred after dinner mints with coffee, the petite fours were very uninteresting.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a Lake View room

We had a delightful lunch on the lawns beside the flowing creek at this historic and very beautiful hotel. Drinks and food were ordered from the bar and delivered promptly by a personable waiter to our outside table. Our meals were tasty and enjoyable, but even if they weren't the scenery is so lovely we probably wouldn't have noticed.
The setting is unbeatable with fabulous views across the lake and the falls themselves are accessed by a pathway immediately behind the hotel.
If you are in the area this is the perfect spot for a dignified lunch.
