Worth a detour to see how this site is slowly being rebuilt. It just survived being destroyed in the 1980s and is a labour of love. Some interest shops on site. Will be great to see how it develops. Needs a visitor centre to better explain the history and future plans. Make a donation to help.

Saved from demolition and conversion to a housing estate, this ancient and very historic castle/residence is in the process of being lovingly restored by a committed group of individuals. There is enough of interest to keep people of all ages amused, though the younger ones would lose interest quicker that their parents.

There is an fine selection of craft workshops, a decent cafe and a great ambience with plenty of opportunity to explore. And its free!

Definitely worth a viit

It was lovely to wander round the site and see the great work that's been done and is ongoing in restoring the hall. The artist's shops were also lovely to pop into.
