“Stunning views from a beautifully converted barn house”
Reviewed 5 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Really enjoyed our time here. the property has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Anne, the owner, was so helpful and welcoming too.Lovely quiet area away from the throngs of tourists but close enough to whitehaven and cockermouth. Some great real ale pubs nearby too. Highly recommended

“So nice we booked again...”
Reviewed 13 April 2013 for a stay in March 2013

Loved this little Cottage/Barn situated in the village of Kirkland, West Cumbria. It had everything you could possibly need. Anne was there to greet us and show us around this charming little gem. The views over Ennerdale Bridge and the Western Fells were breath taking, all the more so because they were still covered in snow. We were near to Frizington and Cleator and not too far from Cockermouth town centre. Locally we ate at The Shepherds Arms Hotel where we were welcomed by Diana and Chef who were so very friendly. The food is highly recommended. Overall we had a great stay at The Barn which was very convenient for walking the Western Fells.

“Wake up to fabulous views from your bed!”
Reviewed 19 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

What a fab little barn for 2, it's probably the best place we've stayed in the lakes for views, ease of use, homeliness, functionality, great eggs and friendly owner. We arrived late in the dark so the thoughtfullness of tea, coffe, milk and eggs was great and when we awoke on sun morning to open the curtains and see the view it was just perfection. The weather wasn't great for us so the benefit of having a home from home that you actually enjoyed staying in was a great bonus which we enjoyed as much as the walking. We're both looking forward to our next stay as we'll be back very soon! thanks Anne for your attention to detail and friendliness

“The Best Holiday Cottage Yet!”
Reviewed 11 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

Having rented a number of small holiday cottages in different regions of England we have to say that this is the best so far, regardless of price. The position is ideal for exploring the Lake District and the views over Ennerdale Water and the surrounding fells is a terrific bonus. The cottage itself is very cosy and has character. The furnishings, fittings and decoration could not be faulted and we settled in immediately and felt right at home - it is also entirely self-contained with its own parking so it really does feel like your own (temporary) home. We were particularly pleased to find that practically everything was provided - even some food and drink items. Quite often a property rental has been entirely cleared after a let so you end up having to buy all sorts of cleaning items, rubbish bags, tea, coffee etc. which is a bit of a bind. Anne, the owner, should be congratulated for making her cottage so welcoming and equipping it so well. We shall return at the earliest opportunity.
