My girlfriend and I stayed at Caroline's cottage for a relaxing week in March. The cottage’s location is perfect if you’re planning to explore the Lake District and Broughton itself is a lovely village.
It gets pretty cold in the evenings in March and we loved sitting in front of one of the log burners at night (there’s also central heating if you don’t fancy building a fire!)
We went on a few great walks straight from the cottage but almost all major attractions are within a half hour drive. The views from Orrest Head are worth the walk up the hill, the Lakeland motor museum is definitely worth a visit and we went on a cruise on lake Windermere.
The cottage itself is very well equipped. The kitchen has everything you need (oven, microwave, pots, pans, plates etc. ), there’s a TV with a DVD player, fast wi-fi, great collection of board games and A LOT of books to work your way through.
Broughton-in-Furness has a post office, three great pubs (fab food at the Black Cock inn), loads of on- street parking and breakfast at the bakery is a must!
We had a great week and will definitely be returning!
