“Absolutely brilliant!”
Reviewed 13 May 2013

Sadly we stayed only one night at this simply great little property but right from the outset, Tina made us so welcome and looked after us so well throughout our stay!
Our room was delightful, with views of the hillsides - but the bed was extra comfortable and the bedlinen really pristine, along with lots of towels and loads of really hot water - most welcome after a day travelling!
There was everything in the room that you could wish for - tea, coffee and cookies - and all the usual other stuff! We really enjoyed it all and had a really good night's sleep - in spite of the nearby road, it was so quiet!
Breakfast was a meal and a half, to say the least! Really, it was a feast and Tina looked after us really well, in spite of getting ready to leave that morning herself! Creamy porridge, followed by a full English Aga-cooked breakfast, takes some beating - and plenty of toast too!
A really good B&B and we will definitely be back!
(The 'Crown Inn' was pretty good for dinner too!)

Room Tip: All just perfect!

We arrived to a warm welcome from Tina. The room had a view of the fells and a clean, homely charm. It kept getting better with home made flapjack and more than enough coffee/tea. Fresh dressing gowns were also provided. To awaken to the smell of freshly baked bread added further to the charm of this warm, friendly b&b. Would I stay again, without doubt. One of the nicest, charming b&b's around. And in a wonderful location. Enjoy, we certainly did..

We stayed for one night at the Blue House. Tina was very welcoming as were the two beautiful black labs running around! The room was clean with a fab comfy bed and the bathroom was right next door but not shared which was a bonus and had a rain shower and extra jets which woke you up after a good sleep. With only two rooms and a romany caravan (which would be fab in the summer) there wasn't lots of guests falling over one another. The best bit had to be breakfast, huge bowl of gorgeous creamy porridge followed by a particularly tasty full English. Would def go back. Really nice relaxing stay.

Thank you so much for your great review. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay, as brief as it was and thrilled that you rated the breakfast so highly - I put it down to the magic of the Aga! We look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes Tina

We spent two nights in the originally and tastefully renovated Garden Room, which has its own private entrance and a gorgeous, large bathroom - with a huge bath that you can easily fill with water that is so hot they have to have warning signs about it! As well as having coffee/tea-making facilities (yummy cookies, too), TV, DVD player (and accompanying small selection of DVDs) and a comfy couch, there is a wood-burning fire (fire-wood provided) and an internet cable (needed because the lovely thick walls block out the otherwise good WiFi connection...which does work in the dining-room and elsewhere). Tina, the host, is an amazing cook and her Aga-cooked breakfasts were the best we had in our two weeks in the UK. Apart from not being able to connect to WiFi, the only minor flaw we could find was the absence of a power-point in the bathroom (for those with electric shavers or wanting to dry their hair in there.) Overall, a delight - top marks, Tina!

Room Tip: If you select the Garden Room, you won't get WiFi but the cable works well.

Stayed in the Romany caravan for two nights with my girlfriend was very cosy lots of candles and a log burner. Tina the host had kindly lit it to be warm on our arrival. One thing is can be a little bit cramped but to be expected in a caravan! Still its warmer than you think in there with the log burner and we didnt even realise it had snowed overnight especially as Tina had even got us hot water bottles! She even gave us a lift into cartmel the next day her two Labradors are lovely and very friendly too. Breakfast was excellent and couldn't fault the service and helpfulness of Tina. Had a lovely stay and so will you!

Many thanks for spreading the word about Romany Rose Gypsy Caravan. You certainly get the prize for extreme camping in the snow and it was a great test for how well insulated the old girl is. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes Tina

Had a fantastic one nights stay here March 11th. We had come up for a break in the Lakes for a few days and wanted to spend some time in Cartmel. Tina (the host) was brilliant, very accommodating and helpful and went the extra mile to make our stay hassle free and relaxing. The room itself was wonderful, very clean and welcoming with a log burner which we made the most of with the snowy weather we had! The breakfast was lovely and felt like we were at home. Cartmel itself was lovely and shouldn't be missed, the food is second to none. We will be recommending the Blue House to all we can. Many thanks to Tina for a wonderful stay! Kate and Toby

Room Tip: Choose the garden room if you want the log burner!

Hi Kate and Toby
Thank you so much for your lovely review. I'm sorry for the delay in responding - it's been a hectic few weeks and can't believe it's now May! Where did April go to. I am so glad you enjoyed your cosy stay, the Garden Room really comes into its own when the wood burner is blazing and it's snowing outside! Best wishes Tina

Really just repeating what everyone else has said this place is lovely. We have never stayed BB before and are totally converted if they are all up to this standard. Warm cosy accomodation very clean, loads of hot water for baths just very relaxing and homely. The major asset is Tina the owner who is delightful and cooked a beautiful breakfast with home made bread all served on lovely china, she also made a reservation for our evening meal at the local pub (do go highly recommended !!) helped us find a beautiful scenic route over the tops to Muncaster. Truly personal service and makes a massive difference to staying in souleless hotels
