“Welcoming Hotel with good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2014

A small and friendly Hotel with a very good restaurant and bar, Julie and her staff are always available, friendly and operate with a can do attitude. The food selection is good the quality excellent and the views from the Dining Room are exceptional. Julie has only taken over the hotel in July last year but has already put her own personality on the Hotel. The hotel is an ideal starting point to visit the Western Region of the lakes and you can forget your car and meander into the small town of Cartmel quite easily and for the more adventurous walkers the lovely resort Town of Grange over Sands is within reach

That was a lovely review to read in particular staff working with a "Can do attitude" is a pleasure to read, it would seem by your comments that we are getting the customer service part correct which we are really pleased with.Anything from our point of view that helps you enjoy your holiday is part of our role.

Julie and the staff at Uplands were very welcoming and helpful. We had two nights stay in March and thoroughly enjoyed the break. Our breakfast was beautifully cooked with local sausages, bacon, black pudding , eggs, beans, mushrooms really set us up for the rest of the day!
Our evening meals were delicious. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

The Uplands Hotel is a beautiful hotel, set in a great location for exploring the Lake District Peninsula and if you like walking like us there are plenty of walks to do without moving the car from their car park.

It is the relaxed atmosphere in the Uplands Hotel that is one of the key defining factors here. The staff are very friendly and very focused on ensuring their guests are completely taken care of and maximise the enjoyment of their stay at their hotel. The layout of the downstairs of the Hotel is completely conducive to relaxed friendly conversation between guests and staff alike.

The food is to die for! Portions are plentiful and cooked to perfection; compliments to the chef, which I gave personally too.

Special thanks to Phil also who looked after us; serving me the wonderful local "Gold Ale" throughout the 2 night stay.

On the Saturday after our walk we refreshed ourselves and my husband and I came to relax in the lounge area enjoying another "Gold Ale!" and watched the rugby alongside Phil and the Chef; lovely people who made you feel very at home.

Will definitely be returning and will most certainly be recommending to family and friends.

Just returned from a weeks holiday three nights of which were spent at the Uplands Hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay having been upgraded to the Leven Room which was very spacious and afforded us wonderful views. The food was lovely. The location was perfect for exploring the area and parking readily available on return. Wifi was an added bonus. Last but not least Julie and the staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. In conclusion a warm friendly comfortable hotel which we would not hesitate in recommending to others and would certainly visit again. Thank you Sam & Yvonne

After a number of years promising ourselves we would visit the Lake District we finally made it. Not only were we blessed with dry weather and some sunshine but we were also fortunate to have chosen an excellent hotel for our visit.
It was a pleasure to stay at Uplands and it certainly ticked all the boxes for us. The service, friendliness and quality of food was second to none. The room was comfortable and had an excellent view. The staff were all delightful and Julie and Neil deserve to succeed in their venture. We were also very fortunate to be there on a Saturday night when the pianist/singer Craig Manchester was performing. This was the icing on the cake. We don't normally write reviews but this warranted it. If you want to stay at a small individual hotel, that offers easy access to the Lakes and provides excellent service then look no further.

Just had a 2 night stay at the Uplands Hotel & from the minute we arrived to leaving, we were made to feel most welcome. The staff were lovely & friendly & couldn't have done more for us. The room was spotless & had recently been updated. We had a 3 course meal on our first night & couldn't fault it. The food is cooked fresh & to order, it was hot & beautifully presented. So much so, that instead of eating out as intended on our 2nd night, we decided to eat in the restaurant & order from the a la carte menu. Again the food was lovely & both the sirloin steak & the lamb steak were cooked to perfection & the chunky chips were to die for! Compliments to the chef & kitchen staff. The breakfast was plentiful & faultless. It was lovely to stay somewhere where you were made to feel very welcome & able to have a bit of banter with the staff. It is true what Julie & the team at the Uplands say 'arrive as strangers & leave as friends'. We wont hesitate on returning & recommending to others. Thankyou for making our stay enjoyable.
