I have visited on a number of occasions previously, and have to say that there is something so very special about Aynsome that makes us return at least once a year! It isn't just us either, many of the other guests were returning visitors too. Hosts chris and Andrea undoubtedly are the magic ingredient with their caring, lovely personalities, although the whole package is lovely - food is great, rooms lovely etc etc. I really cannot add more than the other glowing reviews say. I would totally recommend anyone to stay here, and I guarantee you will return time after time?

My husband and I booked Aynsome Manor at the last minute on last Thursday evening for a week-end away starting on Friday. It was not the sort of hotel we normal stay in as we usually go for modern boutique type of hotels. What a pleasant change this was - roaring fires, old fashioned surroundings and a very warm welcome. The food was excellent and we ate in the hotel both Friday and Saturday night. Nothing was too much trouble for our host and owner Chris who kept us entertained with stories from his past and present times in the hospitality business. The village of Cartmel is lovely with lots of very nice indepentant shops where everyone makes you feel very welcome. We also had a very enjoyable trip on the boat from Lakeside to Boness on the Saturday as we were very lucky with the weather. All in all a very enjoyable week-end. In fact we tried to book for my husbands birthday which isn't until December but the hotel are fully booked so will have to try another time as we definately want to return.

A great mid-week break in early February. The Aynsome Manor retains its deserved reputation for excellent service and cuisine. From arrival to departure we received wonderful attention from all the staff. The hotel continues to invest in a regular programme of refurbishment and upgrading the property which we have noted from previous visits. Would unhesitatingly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a break in the Lakes.

Room Tip: Try Room 12 - it is a little bigger and has a brand new bathroom.

Had a great 3 night stay break culminating with a spectacular 7 course New Years Eve dinner ( 8 if you count the pre dinner canapes and bubbly ).Wonderful firework display at midnight, so pleased the rain held off, then more bubbly and moreish suasage rolls and mince pies.
Always enjoy staying here, the staff are helpful and friendly and the choice and quality of the food is excellent.

The hotel has great service. Rooms are cosy and comfortable. Country style decor. The spread is extensive both in terms of drinks and food. The food in our opinion was good not excellent. Plenty of dinner choices in Cartmel too. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

A beautiful building and setting, together with a warm welcome, delicious food, and excellent service throughout our stay. The dining room is a particular delight, and we could enjoy a superb meal without having to listen to musak, all of which made it just perfect.

Just returned from a 3 day break in this hotel,it is in a beautiful location near Cartmel ,very handy for visiting many other places ( Grange over sands ,Arnside ,and Carnforth. We had a room in the. Cottage across the courtyard ,which is specially for people with dogs ,very good because you cannot bother other guests ,The room was very nice and had ultra modern bathroom and lovely and clean. The dining room in the main house ,was lovely and bright and tastefully decorated,
Now to the food it was amazing Especially Breakfast ( no buffets ) we only had 2 evening meals but they were very good. The owner was there at every meal to make sure you had every thing you needed, nothing was to much trouble ,Throughly enjoyed our stay
I have only one niggle that is if dogs are allowed to stay there should be one public room they can go in, the rule was pets not allowed in any rooms and also not to be left alone in bedrooms ,so had to leave my dog in car while we ate, so left before coffee ,
There was small bar area which people did not use after their meal could allow pets (if they well behaved and small ,)I understand not possible in the sitting rooms as not all people like dogs,
It did not spoil my trip as I worked round it and would certainly go again
