We were only able to stay one night here but wish it could have been for longer. If I could I think I'd decamp and live there permanently.
The Stables is wonderfully quirky and comfortable accommodation: a beautifully converted stable and tack room where you go to bed via a loft ladder. It's about as cosy, charming and peaceful as it gets.
The setting (rural cumbria - just 15 min walk from Cartmel village) is stunning. It's so quiet - all you can hear at night is the odd bleat from neighbouring sheep and hooting from the resident owl.
The fabrics and furnishings are lovely - and though it was too warm to have the fire lit for our trip in August it was easy to see the allure of the big fireplace, sofa and armchair.
The fridge was well-stocked with breakfast stuff like juice, milk and cereal, and though there are no cooking facilities there are any number of tempting cooked brekkie things available from the kitchen in the main house.
The welcome was warm and our goodbye was reluctant. Can't wait to go back.More
