The 450 years old brings you unforgettable memories!!! Service and the crew is beyond the call of duty! I'm over 6'3'' and most of beds are with metal bed frame top and bottom. I asked them for any possibility of having a bed without frame due to my height... response was that they are full but would see what they could do. Check in day and our room was with a divan bed with no bedstead. Very comfortable indeed. Breakfast is locally sourced food!!! Bacon, black pudding and the sausage... oosh! The egg had the most orange yolk I've ever seen!!! OMG! Compliments to the chef!!! Absolutely amazing! Highly recommend!!!!!!! Will defo came back!!!

This is a lovely b&b. I certainly wouldn't want to put anyone off staying here. The location is Good, cartmel is a great little village with a few pubs and cafes. The rooms are clean and the staff are friendly.

My only slight moan was the breakfast was all a bit too posh and slow. First the toast comes out which has gone cold by the time your breakfast does. They put out a small pot of tomato sauce out for everyone which is about the amount of sauce you need for one person. And no beans! Definitely lacking in the breakfast sadly. And a lot of feels like an attempt to save money

Thank you for your comments, we really appreciate feedback as it helps us understand where we can make our offering even better.
I am so glad you enjoyed your over all stay with us, and you certainly seem to have enjoyed the village as a whole, and hope to see you here again in the future.
We always send toast out as our guests sit at breakfasts along with tea or coffee, our menu does also state you are more than welcome to more tea, coffee and toast at any tome upon request.
We find that beans are often not a popular choice and when they were on our menu, often we were asked to skip them.
We do however, offer fresh fruit. cereals. yogurts and also provide a full cooked breakfast option, smoked salmon, poached eggs, scrambled eggs, or any variation you wish.
If not having an item on the menu for money saving reasons it would be smoked salmon and not a ramekin of beans.
I can assure potential guests that our breakfasts are all cooked to order, individually, which does take a little longer than all being pre cooked for the shift, but once cooked our guests are usually very satisfied with the quality.
I thank you for your comments, but don't want to disappoint you too much by confirming beans are a bit of a no go at the Cavendish. ( in fact they have "bean and gone").
kind regards
Richard

Had a lovely stay here in Feb. Great Room with huge comfy bed and gorgeous breakfast. Lots of parking at the rear of the pub. Located right in the centre of the village.Richard and all his staff were lovely. I will definitely be returning as soon as I can!

This is great pub. The setting is superb. The beams are low the hops draped over them really set a welcoming scene. The fire is great too. As is the beer. We went for lunch on a Sunday. My friend had the fish pie which was superb. I chose less wisely - the roast pork. It neither looked or tasted of roast pork. It was pork that was chopped up mixed with stuffing pushed into a ramakin and turned out onto the plate. Not what was billed - roast pork. Sadly my comments at the time fell on deaf ears which was disappointing.

I'd definitely go again - but I'd ask exactly what is it that's going to arrive on my plate as style can sometimes go too far.

Stayed two nights at the cavendish arms in the annex across the square. Premium room, loads of space, huge comfortable bed, large bathtub, bath robes and a lovely view over the square. Really clean and tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Breakfast was great. Full English breakfast - everything extremely flavoursome good quality ingredients...the black pudding and scrambled egg was perfect. Unlimited toast, coffee/tea and fresh orange was nice.

Evening meal was the pièce de résistance of the stay. THE best steak and ale pie we've ever had. I ordered the flat iron steak (the special) which was to die for - cooked perfectly. We ate here the 2nd night too and just swapped round what we had the first night between us. Sticky toffee pudding amazing and bread and butter baileys pudding lovely.

The pub itself, with the open fire, made for a snug night. Lovely cosy decor with an upright piano and fabulous friendly staff.

Car park at rear of the cavendish was protected and convenient.

All in all a great stay and can't wait to return ASAP!
