There is not much I can add to the previous reviews except to echo their comments. We stayed at forest how guest house for two nights in a double en-suite room. The room had a fabulous view and we watched deer in the near by field on the second morning. The room itself was a little small, but it had tea/coffee making facilities and a tv. The shower was a bit temperamental.
The breakfast was super and certainly set us up for the day. John and Deb who run the guest house couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. They obviously love this place and who could blame them.
As previously mentioned the bird life around the guest house is tremendous and the red squirrels quite a treat.
We were recommended to walk down to one of the local pubs (about 20 minutes amble). The food wasn't great but it meant we didn't have to drive so we could both have a drink.
Had forest how offered evening food we wouldn't have hesitated to eat there and continue to enjoy the wonderful ambiance.
Would we stay here again? Absolutely yes.

Hidden from view from the main lane in Eskdale this is a superb b&b with a lot to it . The breakfast entertainment is so attractive just sitting and watching the birds (huge variety) feeding and of course the red squirrels (3 of them) . Great spot for walking as path goes through the grounds and lovely walk from here to Muncaster castle over the crags and returning on the lower path through woodland . And also a nice 20 minute walk to a local pub The King George Inn whose meals are fab . Great couple in Deb & John who oblige with whatever you ask . Next opportunity we get we shall be back as still a few unfinished walks to complete.......

Had a lovely 2 night stay at Forest How. As other reviewers have mentioned, the wildlife is extraordinary, particularly the red squirrels, which could be seen whilst enjoying a most excellent breakfast in the conservatory. What a show!
I loved the quiet location, the friendliness of the hosts, the beauty of the views, and - to top it all - the fact that there is a steam train request stop at the end of the lane! Who could ask for more?

Room Tip: I was in room 3 which was a twin en-suite. Great views of the garden to watch the squirrels and bird...

We stayed here for two nights. Deb and John gave us a wonderful welcome. Forest How is in a wonderful peaceful location. Loved all the wildlife especially the red squirrels which can be watched whilst having breakfast. The breakfast was lovely with a very good choice of menu and vegetarians are catered for. Can thoroughly recommend Forest How and we will be back.

Spur of the moment decision to stay here once again but no regrets about it. Fabulous location on the edge of the fell and the treat of watching abundant wildlife while eating wonderful breakfast should not be missed. Will be back soon.

This was my first trip to the Eskdale area. I wanted a comfortable and peaceful base for a walking break, and Forest How did not disappoint. The hosts, John and Deb, made me feel very welcome. The location and local wildlife were stunning. I had breakfast in the conservatory, with a red squirrel eating his fare, a mere 6 feet away on the patio. A selection of tits, jays and yellowhammers were in attendance, and pheasants strutted across the lawn!
My room was large and more than adequate. The breakfast choice was vast, and quality excellent. The hosts were also very knowledgeable about the local amenities. This is a place I shall certainly return to.

I stayed here for two nights. The location is absolutely beautiful, tranquil and relaxing. The breakfast selection was very good with nothing being any trouble for John or Deb. If you appreciate the Lake District then you will not be disappointed with this accommodation.
Breakfast alone is a wonderful experience with pheasants, finches, Jays and best of all red squirrels all eating on the wall outside . That alone is an experience to take home and remember.
