Stayed at the campsite for 2 nights, July 2006.
Breathtaking location, the campsite is located at the foot of the Scafell Massif and Wasdale Lake, and is surrounded almost completely by high peaks.
Excellent base for Scafell Pike and other summit walks
Good size site but remains 'personal' as areas are divided by greenary (plenty of shade available)
There are very basic supplies available in the site reception during limited opening hours
The pitch areas and the car park are slightly separate (which could also be a negative!)
Toilet blocks clean and adequate, hot showers (20p), laundry facilities, washing up area
We arrived at the site by foot, however we noted that to access by car, it is a reasonable drive on narrow roads.
The site works on a first come basis - however this didnt seem to be an issue (particuarly if you arrive before 5 as the site reception is closed until then)
The nearest 'big' shop is approx 10miles away
No public transport
