We left Ravenglass on the steam train and heard there was a good pub at the end of the line. Very welcoming good selection on menu and special board too. Hubby had crab cakes which he said was delicious. I had scallops which were also fresh and very tasty. The only thing we were disappointed with was the fact we had a sandwich at Ravenglass station before hand. We would have liked to have more. We will defo return with family in the summer.

It's been two years since I was last here and I'm glad to report that the standards are still very high. A traditional inn/hotel with large and comfortable bedrooms, excellent food at reasonable prices and (so close to my heart) absolutely beautiful local real ale. Added to that you have first class friendly service a pleasant atmosphere and a first class location for walking the mountains or touring the west side of the Lake District park. What more do you want?

This inn is brilliant, perfectly situated for walkers and holiday makers alike we go there quite often because we know there will always be the perfect ale, friendly staff & delicious food. It's open for food all day which is great because you know that even if you get a little lost on a walk and take longer than planned you can always come back and get a hot meal and a pint at the Brook. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We have been coming to the Brook House Inn since 2008 and love it for its location, hospitality, food and beer. This time we were not disappointed we had an enormously comfortable 5 days. The food is excellent, with an interesting menu with several outstanding dishes, not least the daube of beef and the various fish. It is great to stay in a pub with great beer that really welcomes walkers as illustrated by the proper drying room. This is a pub to treasure and enjoy.

After a lovely walk with Mandi, we decided to find somewhere inviting and warm with a nice choice of proper home cooked food. We found this pub in the middle of Eskdale and with a wood burner fire, cosy atmosphere and a nice selection of home cooked food on the menu, we decided to stay put and take advantage on what was on offer :) We both enjoy a great pie so we both tried the beef and ale pie with all the trimmings and gravy. The food didnt take long to be cooked and before our coats dried we were eating gorgeous chunks of juicy beef in ale inside beautiful short crust pastry. The trimmings included a lovely selection of vegetables and come chuncky crispy chips. It was fab :) we also had a lovely cup of tea and home made scones with butter jam and cream. It was lovely and we would come back again if we was to do another walk in the area.

We visited the Brook House Inn on our last night in Eskdale. All I can say is, if you're anywhere near Boot or Eskdale, visit this pub as soon as you can.
The staff are friendly and accommodating. Even our dog was welcomed (in the bar area, where you can also have meals) and the food....oh, the food! It was delicious.
Alongside the regular menu, they have daily specials on - last nights' included filo parcels of garlic prawns, suet game pudding with all the trimmings, and for puddings they had the most delicious coffee torte with espresso cream. Kids have their own menu and delicious it is too - no deep-fried fast food here. The pub also has a great selection of ales.
Forget the competition - go here, you will not be disappointed

First time in 12 years that the pub closest to where we were staying has been this good.
Interesting dishes, wonderful fresh vegetables, good value meals.
We returned here for food( and drinks!) four times during our stay in Boot. The staff are all very friendly, the dog is welcome too. Good choice of wines and massive menu of malt whisky. Cask is well kept.
