We went for a special event dinner and stayed the night having breakfast before we left.

The setting is beautifully peaceful and we had a lovely walk in the grounds after we arrived and the next morning saw two red squirrels running round the grounds. We were told that there are deer, but failed to spot one.

Technically we had one of the smaller rooms, but there was plenty of space and it was well 'furnished' including a DVD player for those staying longer and marooned by poor weather.

The dinner was excellent and the breakfast was freshly cooked. For those who like cocktails do ask for the local gin and honey one - even someone who would never normally drink gin thought it lovely.

This would be an excellent place for anyon e who wanted to explore the Lakes, especially the North Lakes, and/or escappe the bustle and noise of modern life though with free wifi you can still keep in touch.

Room Tip: All the rooms give good views: mjust depends on what you wish to pay. There is a ground floor room f...

I have eaten here a number of times with my family over the nears and twice recently with my girl friend. The food and service here are the best I think I have ever experienced! We have both eaten at various different fine dining restaurants and Over Water has always been the benchmark! I could not recommend it highly enough to anyone!

We stayed for 3 nights with our pet dog. What a fantastic hotel. We were all made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely with fantastic views. Very clean with a luxury bathroom. The breakfasts were lovely and kept us going all day. The evening meals were the highlight of our stay. Real fine dining, 5 star food with a great choice. I almost don't want to tell everyone as it's tempting to keep it as our secret! However, it would be unfair not to spread the word and fully recommend this hotel. We will return very soon - I feel that this may become a regular for us! Well done Overwater Hall for making our stay one we will never forget. Thank you. :)

We stayed for two nights this month to celebrate my birthday. It was a great choice, exactly what I expected and more, comfortable room in a beautiful setting with great food. We were all very well looked after and left feeling very relaxed. Even had a great view of the red squirrels having their breakfast from the lounge window before we left. So nice to be able to bring our pet dog too. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed at Overwater Hall for a long weekend. Beautiful house and grounds with rasy access to Keswick, Derwent Water and Skiddaw. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Best of all was the food which was stunning. Cocktails weren't bad either! Perfect hotel for a relaxing weekend away. Will definitely be back.

Just returned from a 3 day break for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. This was our honeymoon hotel 40 years ago. What a wonderful place to stay. Set in 16 acres of beautiful, well tended grounds. The hotel sits in a sheltered hollow protected from the elements. One of the highlights was the red squirrels outside our bedroom window.
Out hosts took great care of us, attending to our every wish. Our room was immaculate with excellent views of the countryside. The food was outstanding and the menu carefully thought out to help those staying for longer periods. The wine list is excellent with good quality from the cheaper wines.
The staff to guest ratio was almost 1 to 1 and it appears that this is so even in peak weeks. Will definitely be back and it won't take us 40 years this time. To take this much care of people isn't just a job it is a labour of love.

This is a superb hotel. The rooms are warm and comfortable and has a wonderful restaurant and wine list! The staff know you by name and nothing is too much trouble. All this was complemented by stunning scenery on a cold snowy day.
