“Cumbria at it's very best”

This is a real gem! Beautiful and peaceful location, great range of walks from the hotel, well furnished and maintained period rooms and excellent cuisine. Overwater is a delightful place to stay and admire the countryside and wildlife. My wife and I stayed in the Garden room that overlooks the patio and garden. Patio feeders ensure daily visits from red squirrels and lots of lovely birds. My son stayed in room 8 on the first floor - a large comfortable room with great views of the fells. Both rooms have large bathrooms with separate bath and shower. The garden room has a Jacuzzi bath. All the staff were welcoming, enthusiastic and helpful. The quality of the cuisine and restaurant service is 5 star +. The dinner menu changes daily and there is a good selection of reasonably priced wines. The breakfast menu is excellent and I would also recommend the packed lunches that represent fantastic value for money at £8. Free wifi is provided and there is a selection of DVDs, CDs and books for visitors to use. Wifi signal is patchy in some rooms but adequate in most areas. If you want noise and nightlife - do not visit Overwater. If you are hopelessly glued to your mobile phone - do not visit Overwater - no signal! If you want to relax in a heaven of tranquility and enjoy Cumbrian beauty, hospitality and food at it's very best - then this is the place to stay. I cannot wait for our next visit to this special place.

Room Tip: Overwater does not have a swimming pool or fitness centre but it does have a beautiful pond and grea...

Ŵe have just returned to Overwater Hall, our seventh visit! It is THE BEST hotel for personal attention, beautiful rooms, wonderful foods, flowers and fruit in your room, delicious homemade biscuits with the hostess tray.
And, of course, the views and the area. This is a 5 STAR hotel, run by a delightful trio who love their work and treat each guest as though they are warm friends - a very special place to stay. Dog friendly too! This is a magical place, managed by very special people.
The gardens and woodland are stunning, with red squirrels housing through the trees and not the terrace. Sheer enchantment.

Room Tip: The turret rooms are lovely. Room 9 has great views and is a small suite, with dressing room betwixt...

Just returned from repeat stay at Overwater Hall. A beautiful place to stay. Great food with fellow guests who often very friendly and chatty. Amazed how many are returning guests (like ourselves). It isn't difficult to understand that this place is very special - service, food and surroundings all top drawer add to that the staff of Adrian, Angela and Stephen - this place is amazing.
It feels like staying at an old friend's house but where they cook 5 star food and don't expect you to help out. I'm sure we wil be back soon.
Also a great base from which to explore the quieter Northern Lakes.

Room Tip: We had room 6 - one of the turret rooms - excellent!

Title says it all!

Sadly had 2 out of 4 day stay in rain but this didn't spoil our visit!

Had turret room which was fab - lots of attention to detail - dressing gowns in room, lovely toiletries etc -home made biscuits - yummy!

The food is to die for ! Menu options changed every night (at least two courses) so always something different ona our 4 night stay.

Sticky toffee pudding and beef Wellington an absolute joy!

Lovely, attentive hosts, Stephen and Angela and nothing was too much trouble.

We will book again - a real hidden gem!

Thanks to you all for a lovely, memorable stay!

Room Tip: We hd a turret room which was beautiful!

I have never before felt compelled to write a review on any hotel despite travelling the globe on business and pleasure.

From booking through to checkout the quality, attention to detail and warmth of the Overwater Hall "family" was outstanding. Special thanks to Luke and to Adrian, Angela and Stephen for making our welcome and stay wonderful.

The food and stimulating conversation in the snug will live long in the memory.

Massive thanks guys, will see you again soon.

John & Kim

Room Tip: The turret rooms are wonderful.

Super hospitality and food... decor fits well with the hotel... rooms are classic and well thought out with quality fittings ... Ideal for dog owners as the hotel seems to welcome canine visitors... meals are first class with very attentive service ... Hotel ideal for a quite stay.... The hotel is on the expensive side for what it is ...so make it a special occasion

Room Tip: go for a room at the front
