5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2009

Spent a lovely 2 day break at Overwater which was selected as it was number 1 in the keswick area on trip advisor. We weren't disappointed in any aspect of our stay other than it wasn't long enough. Stayed in the garden room which allowed us access to a fantastic whirlpool bath, most welcome after a days walking, our own patio area and access to the gardens. The food was very special too and the award of 2 AA rosettes gives some idea of the standard.

We had an wonderful time staying at the Overwater Hall. My husband, one-year-old son, and I stayed for 5 nights and loved every minute of it. The staff were extremely accommodating, resourceful, and considerate. We were worried that having a small child might be an issue since the hotel is quite luxurious, but the staff and guests made us feel very welcome and right at home. I might add that we made a conscious effort to be considerate of the other guests and staff by not letting our child wreak havoc throughout the hotel. We enjoyed breakfast every morning in the restaurant and found the food to be very well prepared and quite delicious. We had a fabulous dinner one evening in the restaurant while our son slept in our room monitored by a baby listening device. We would never normally feel comfortable leaving our child alone for any time at all but due to the intimacy and small size of the hotel we felt reassured that he would be completely safe and the dining room where we ate was at most a 2 minute walk from our room. We will definitely return to the Overwater Hall if we plan another holiday in the Lake District. The hotel, grounds, and location are idyllic. We were so pleased with our choice. One last thing that really impressed us was that several of the guests we met were repeat clients and some reported that they have been vacationing at the Overwater Hall for years.

As described by others perfect ambience in a fantastic location. I was staying overnight in Carlisle and there is no high quality accommodation in Carlisle.
Here the welcome is as described by others. Welcomed at the entrance by Luke an excellent intro.
I had a small room which was excellent if possibly a little small. My only additional request would be a small fridge.
The pre dinner bar was good fun and enabled one of the Proprietors to take the dinner order prior to sitting in the dining room. The food was all one could hope for, Beautifully presented, excellent choice for each course and I consider it to be fantastic value at £40.
Good choice of wines to suit all pockets.
I was asked about breakfast and they were delighted to accommodate my early start.

This was excellent, no that does not describe it well enough. It was prepared and served to perfection
Certainly not the cheapest hotel by any means but if you want to be treated fantastically go there and meet the wonderful Angela Hyde and her beautiful Black Labradors

My husband and I stayed in the Overwater this year and all I can say is fantastic! Clean bright rooms, friendly and professional staff at all levels who were helpful and informative and did everything possible to make our stay as enjoyable as it could be. We will definitely be back again!

We arrived on Thurs for a two night stay for my husband's 40th birthday. From the moment we arrived - being greeted at the door by Stephen - to the moment we left (reluctantly) we had a wonderful time. We were in room eight which was a great size with a huge luxurious bathroom. The food was a delight which almost defies description. It was beautiful to behold and tasted even better. The evening meal was superb in both quality, quantity and choice and even the breakfasts tasted better than we have experienced at any other hotel. My husband says the warm scones he had with afternoon tea were the best he has ever tasted.
The hotel grounds were lovely with an abundance of birdlife, red squirrels and deer to be seen from the lounge without even stepping foot outside the door.
I can't think of anything negative about our stay here.

Just returned today 27.04.09 after an overnight stay. I can only endorse previous comments. This place is really special, beutifully positioned away from it all with no mobile phone reception...idyllic. From arrival to departure you know your experiencing something special. Mid summer or mid winter must be glorious in the surroundings. I cannot wait to think of an excuse to return. Food was excellent in DB&B deal. The place exudes quality and the service was first class.

We spent our Easter break at Overwater Hall. We booked one of the turret rooms (Room 6) which has an impressive four-poster bed. The room was very spacious and extremely comfortable. The hotel is situated in glorious countryside which we explored from the hotel (we didnt use the car at all during our stay) using the hotel,s book of suggested walks and the ordnance survey maps. The hotel gardens feature a board walk through the nearby woods where there is wildlife aplenty. We photographed red squirells and a roe deer during our stay. The food is excellent - beautifully cooked and presented and served with style. The menu is complemented by a good selection of wines with many available as half bottles and champagne served by the glass. Most of the other guests had been to the hotel before and I can understand why. We went to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary - this hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway.
