“A friendly place for a solo traveller”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Called into this pub with my dog for a late-ish lunch on a few days away in the Lake District. It was a shame I was the only customer as this was a lovely place, with a small beer garden teeming with birds and great service. Not only that but, unusually for the Lakes, very inexpensive for lunch. Sometimes it can be odd travelling alone but the landlord and staff are so friendly it was very relaxing. All the food in the pic below for £6.95 - mozzarella and roasted red pepper baguette, with a large portion of chips and a large salad. HIghly recommended.

“Warm and Welcoming Pub”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

Visited a friend in the area and this was the nearest place for dinner. Pleased that the local did good food as well as some decent local beer.

Welcoming and friendly staff. There were six of us and the standard of food was consistent.

Recommend the lamb shoulder - beautiful and tender. Well cooked veg, fantastic chips (mash wasn't so great). Huge portions and maybe a bit heavy for some but I loved it.

“Received a really warm welcome”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

We stayed on the campsite at the back of the Wheatsheaf Inn and we’re not disappointed. The welcome we received from the moment we arrived was warm and friendly. The food serviced was gorgeous and plenty full, although would advise booking as it was extremely busy. This is an ideal location to stay to explore, Whinlatter Forest, Cockermouth and Keswick.
Highly recommended for the campsite and restaurant.
