“Lovely peaceful break”
Reviewed 7 September 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We went in March 2014 for my dads birthday and absolutely loved it. Perfect surroundings away from the hustle and bustle with everything you need within the property. Even had loads of logs ready for the fire. Fantastic!

The owners were very helpful and the price was very good value.
We will be returning.
My advice to anyone going is to stock up on food/wine before you arrive as you won't want to leave.

A homely cottage with all the mod cons you could wish for in a very convenient location close to the main attractions of Lake Windermere.

“A lovely cottage to explore the Lake District”

Low Mill is a lovely cottage very well situated to explore the lake district. t was very comfortable and convenient for a family of five. The surroundings are peaceful and pleasant, close to lake Windemere. We had a wonderful time and discovered an exceptionally beautiful area. As mentioned by other guests, the High Dam walk is a rewarding experience. I recommend this cottage.

“The warm and cosy cottage we hoped for and a perfect base for exploring the Lake District”

We stayed with 5 people, all adults, at the Low Mill for a midweek. Way to short for what the Lake District and the nearby surroundings of Low Mill Cottage has to offer.
We had plenty of room in the cosy cottage where we stayed up late each night enjoying the woodfire and a good glass of wine after a yet another long day of exploring the Lake District. Of course we went for the High Dam and there is so much more to enjoy, drive and to walk.

“Charming clean and ideal for walking”

The cottage is situated just off the road from Lakeside in between two other cottages so going by car is a must. High Dam is at least 25 minutes walk from Cottage but very pleasent, even in the rain! The cottage itself will have everything you need, its clean comfortable and once you get the log burner going very relaxing. We left quite a lot of wood so the next customer should be very happy! Kathryn is very friendly and it's been a pleasure booking through her. We also took two dogs who had there own front garden and the walk to High Dam with them was very memorable, it came recommended in a 'Walking your Dog around the Lakes' book in fact. All in all we have a very relaxing time, we would recommend this to anyone, thank you x

“We really enjoyed this warm, cosy and very clean Lake District cottage.”
Reviewed 8 March 2014 for a stay in February 2014

We just stayed three very good nights at Low Mill Cottage. It was warm and cosy from its comprehensive central heating throughout. The interior was most attractive in Lake District cottage style and everything was very comfortable. The whole cottage was exceptionally clean. The cottage is in a quiet wooded location very close to Lake Windermere and the boat trips from Lakeside. It is very easy to reach local hotels and villages by car and we spent a marvellous hour of afternoon sunshine a mile or two away at Rusland Church where Arthur Ransome is buried. We had a great walk from the door up the hill to High Dam which is often compared to Tarn Hows. The starry night sky from the cottage garden was amazing! The kitchen had an excellent large fridge-freezer and there is a pleasant sunny paved garden with good table and chairs. A great three days.

Liked best: Easy private off road parking next to the garden entrance.
Liked least: Local shopping is over a mile away. The excellent fridge freezer is a big help here.

“Wonderful place to see in the New Year”
Reviewed 5 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

We stayed at Low Mill Cottage over the New Year 2013-2014. It is in a beautiful location, not too isolated but surrounded by beautiful countryside. Cottage is lovely and clean with plenty of room for 4-5 adults. Log fire is a particular novelty, and very welcome during a winter stay, although central heating was very easy to use. Well-equipped kitchen to prepare meals. Lots of fun games and puzzles for the rainy days. Many places nearby to visit, we particularly enjoyed a meal at the nearby Swan Hotel in Newby Bridge.
