As a family of four, we stayed here as a half way stop on the way to Scotland for 2 nights, and what a lovely experience it was!
We had two suites, both with views of the lake which were breath taking and lovely to wake up to in the morning. The suites were very luxurious, I loved the quaint interior. The beds had crisp bedding. The bathrooms were very nice, marble floors and a jacuzzi bath which was very relaxing. The toiletries were also very luxurious.

We had a meal in the main restaurant and I cannot fault the food! I am quite a fussy eater but I found something lovely for each course. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very relaxed and the staff were very friendly. We visited the bar in the hotel after dinner which was great, we spent a few hours there.

We enjoyed the breakfast, there is a little buffet and you also order your hot food. Very chilled.
Thank you for a warm welcome! We will definitely be back soon.

Room Tip: I would recommended a room with a lake view, very calming.

We love this place and have visited many times. My husband proposed to me there 5 years ago, we visited when I was pregnant with my son, we visited when I was diagnosed with cancer and then again when I had finished my treatment. Every time we have felt pampered and well looked after. Even when visiting with our small child, we felt looked after. The location is stunning and the hotel and restaurant are first class. Every room we have stayed in has been immaculate. This is our 'go to' special place. The food has always been to Michelin standards and the staff are impeccably well trained. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to treat themselves. It would be easy to feel out of place with children here but don't, they are welcome. Oh and the spa! How could I forget! I go everytime - wonderful.

Wonderful hotel, wonderful service, Windermere in front of you. Stayed here for a wedding and had a fabulous time. Food all came to order hot and very tasty. Trip on the lake on a boat and even the weather couldn't be faulted. Only stayed on bed and breakfast but very nice place

Room Tip: Lakeside view is very expensive but sure it would be worth it for a special occasion

Visited friends for one one night stay.
Room - perhaps a little dated but spotlessly clean.
Food - absolutely superb
wine - one of the best wine lists the writer has seen
Service - cannot fault
Why only very good - simply the price. The one night experience for dinner bed and breakfast for one night ( admittedly with a decent bottle of wine) came in at just short of £400!!!!
If rating on a value for money basis then probably over priced, but if rating purely on experience, food and service excellent

Agree with more or less everything other people have said about the Lakeside. It's a lovely hotel with stunning views, great food and service and a very nice spa. However, I would suggest people think twice before paying out more for a lake view terrace room - we were here in mid-summer when there was a wedding party on and we couldn't sit out to enjoy the terrace one beautiful afternoon because it was being used as a playground by a large unsupervised group of young children running around and screaming right outside our room

We stayed the The Lakeside for our honeymoon, and the hotel was everything we hoped it would be. It isn't cheap, but the experience really is excellent and I would recommend the hotel for anyone planning a romantic or special occasion break. The food is excellent, with a wide selection at breakfast and then very good daytime and evening meals. The wine list is also extremely extensive, and the staff in the restaurant were very helpful in navigating around it. All the staff around the entire complex were very friendly and helpful for the week that we stayed there. We used the leisure club alot. The gents changing area (can't speak for the ladies area!) was fairly standard with an open changing area with individual showers. The pool area was well kept and the pool itself was quite large for a hotel leisure pool. My wife had a spa treatment during our stay and said it was lovely with really friendly staff. Outside the hotel itself, the windermere lake cruises leave from across the car park, and the steam railway station and lakes aquarium are also literally outside the door.

Room Tip: We had a lakeview room and it was really worth the extra price.

Excellent hotel right on the water with easy access via the lake to Bowness and Ambleside, a bit out of the way otherwise, the room we stayed in had a view over the countryside and was comfortable if a wee but dated, as some other reviews have mentioned the beds are very soft so if you like a firm mattress request a bed board as soon as you arrive, we stayed 4 nights but only managed a sleep on night 3 after requesting the bed board, bars and resturants very good but expensive.
